Charter Casting is hiring a Process Engineer!

Job Summary:

Provide technical leadership and process expertise to continuously improve safety, quality, yield and throughput of the manufacturing equipment and processes. Work with other functions to implement new products, materials, equipment, and processes into production to improve cost competitiveness and customer satisfaction. Work with internal teams and outside contractors on budgeting, installation, and startup of capital equipment.

• •Location: Woodstock, IL
• •Schedule: Onsite

Key responsibilities:

• •Investigate, evaluate, and justify investment of potential new equipment.
• •Lead and support Continuous Improvement of manufacturing processes.
• •Provide technical support to operations by spending time on the floor learning processes, troubleshooting, and leading and/or participating on teams.
• •Coordinate with Product Engineering on new component process and equipment planning.
• •Write appropriations requests and manage capital projects.
• •Drive variation reductions utilizing Process Control methodology.
• •Define and document Standard Operating Procedures for new and modified processes.
• •Assist with establishing and tracking key operational metrics.
• •Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
• •Ability to meet the essential job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as outlined in the job description.

What you’ll need:

• •Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
• •One plus years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• •Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing and problem-solving techniques including Kaizen, 5S and 6σ.
• •Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, and production equipment.
• •Effective written and oral communication skills.
• •Self-starter with strong analytical skills.
• •Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), PFMEA, process control plans, process flow diagrams, and part routings.
• •Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• •Basic 3D CAD software skills.

Nice to haves:

• •One plus years’ experience in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
• •Experience in high volume metal stamping, metal forming or automated assembly.
• •Experience with metal finishing and metal treatments.
• •Proven project management experience.
• •Experience within the automotive industry.
• •Experience with SolidWorks/Pro-E systems.
• •Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office software products.

The annual hiring range for this position is: $68,900-$86,100. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on various factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation decisions are tailored to the unique circumstances of each position and candidate.
