Production Test Technician

Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Production Test Technician at Viavi Solutions, you will be responsible for performing functional and performance testing on a variety of Viavi products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications before shipment. You will troubleshoot and resolve issues, contributing to the efficient flow of production.

• •Execute standardized test procedures and document test results accurately.
• •Perform functional, performance, and environmental testing on optoelectronic, fiber optic, and electrical assemblies and systems.
• •Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot failures to the component level using various test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, DVMs).
• •Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve production issues and improve product quality.
• •Set up and maintain test fixtures, equipment, and workstations.
• •Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• •Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on test procedures and product design.
• •Perform basic soldering and rework as needed.
• •Document non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

• •Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• •1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production test environment, preferably with optoelectronic or telecommunications equipment.
• •Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• •Strong understanding of electronic circuits and test methodologies.
• •Experience with various test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
• •Familiarity with fiber optic technology and associated test equipment (e.g., optical power meters, OTDRs) is a plus.
• •Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• •Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
• •Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• •Good written and verbal communication skills.
• •Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
