What You’ll Do

The ETL Tester will be responsible for designing, automating, and executing test cases for Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) ETL processes in a State Government Medicaid environment. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of data as it moves through our ETL processes.

You will leverage your expertise to design and execute test strategies that validate both functional and non-functional requirements of our data pipelines. The tester will leverage ETL tools — primarily Informatica PowerCenter for extraction, transformation, and loading, and Teradata RDBMS for core data store validation — within Azure DevOps and agile sprint cycles to ensure data quality, identify defects, and automate repeatable testing processes.

• •Analysis: Review Change Requests (CRs) and participate in requirement analysis for new EDW extracts and transformations. Participate in data modeling and requirement gathering sessions to ensure testing aligns with business needs
• •Data Validation: Perform backend testing to compare data in source systems to target Medicaid Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW). Verify source-to-target data mapping and transformation logic for Medicaid datasets. Validate data quality, standardization rules, and loading accuracy.
• •SQL & Scripting: Write complex SQL queries (including multi-table JOINs, aggregations) to validate ETL outputs against business rules. Conduct row counts, null checks, duplicate checks, referential integrity validation.
• •Test Strategy & Execution: Design test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for ETL processes. Document test results and provide detailed feedback to stakeholders, highlighting areas for improvement. Execute manual and automated tests for both full-load and incremental-load cycles.
• •Defect Management: Identify, document, and track discrepancies using tools like JIRA, HP ALM, or Azure DevOps Test Plans. Collaborate with ETL developers to resolve defects and perform regression testing.
• •Automation: Develop automated database validation scripts using Python, SQL Alchemy, and Pandas. Create shell scripts for ETL monitoring and log analysis. Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.

Requirements

• •5+ years of QA/testing experience supporting ETL, data warehouse, backend data systems, healthcare analytics, or enterprise data platforms.
• •5+ years of hands-on experience with Python, Azure, and Azure Data Factory (ADF) for data validation, test automation, pipeline testing, and cloud-based data solutions.
• •Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases such as Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or equivalent.
• •Experience testing ETL, data warehouse, backend, integration, end-to-end, and UI solutions.
• •Strong understanding of data warehousing and ETL concepts, including dimensional modeling,
• •Star/Snowflake schemas, Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 1/2), data transformations, and data quality validation.
• •Experience validating data mappings, business rules, source-to-target reconciliation, data transformations, and overall data integrity.
• •Experience with ETL tools such as ADF, Informatica, Talend, or SSIS, and test management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or HP ALM.
• •Experience developing and executing test strategies, test plans, test cases, automation frameworks, and defect management processes.
• •Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
• •Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• •Experience in healthcare, Medicaid, managed care, payer, or government healthcare programs, including claims, encounters, eligibility, provider, and healthcare analytics data.
• •Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data standards and transactions, including 837/835, ICD-9/10, CPT, and HL7.
• •Experience supporting Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES), State Medicaid programs, or state health and human services agencies.
• •Experience testing large-scale healthcare data warehouses, reporting platforms, cloud modernization initiatives, or enterprise data transformation programs.
• •Experience with Informatica or other enterprise ETL platforms.
• •Experience building or maintaining test automation, ETL validation, or data quality automation frameworks.
• •Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, GitHub/Git, release management, and automated deployment processes.
• •Experience supporting Azure cloud migration, data platform modernization, and enterprise-scale transformation initiatives.
• •Experience collaborating with business, operational, technology, and regulatory stakeholders in highly governed healthcare environments.
