Quality Engineer

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a professional to take on the role of Quality Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and auditing quality management systems under ISO 9001 Standard; and monitor processes to ensure the products are produced meeting or customer requirements. Requires quality systems and problem-solving subject matter expertise to identify and resolve issues and deviations before they reach customer. Lead and support quality checks for existing products and new product launches from design development phase gate, engineering processes and prototype builds. Work in a team environment to develop and implement best practices that promote defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide inputs for continuous improvement projects. Manage the customer specific requirements and offer technical support.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Quality Systems:

Perform product and process audits, work with shop floor teams by driving performance metrics through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Ensure control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained.

Assist with training in quality awareness.

Monitor continuous compliance of Quality Management system per ISO 9001.

Write and Review System and Product Procedures and Work Instructions.

Participate in the development of new products and processes or changes related to current products and processes to assure fulfillment of customer requirements and international Standards.

Reporting and Metrics:

Monitor and report daily, weekly and monthly on quality-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including internal/external ppm, scrap, rework levels, non-conformances, etc.

Monitor Customer Portals.

Pareto internal/external NCMR (non-conforming material report)

Proactively identify risks and work with management and multidisciplinary teams to mitigate them.

Executing:

Facilitate cross functional team meetings to identify root cause and implement permanent corrective actions for product quality issues and quality system deviations.

Communicate with Customers and Suppliers to address concerns and corrective actions as needed.

Own customer complaints correspondence and disposition.

Update on customer portals regarding corrective actions.

Handle warranty claims disposition in a timely manner, including potential tear downs when needed. Involve cross functional team (engineering, production, sales etc.) in disposition when necessary.

Participate on Continuous Improvement Projects and Lean and Kaizen events.

Undertake special projects as required.

Requirements

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. (Mechanical, Industrial or Quality preferred)

Knowledge on ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Knowledge on Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP).

Interpreting engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Advanced use of Microsoft Excel

Solid use of Microsoft Word & Power Point

Strong interpersonal communication skills, Clear and concise verbal and written skills.

Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

Certified as Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor by international Registrar Firm

Strong knowledge and experience on APQP

Experience on application of MSA and GR&R

Lean Manufacturing knowledge – TPS

Application of Inferential Statistics and Design of Experiments (Six Sigma)

Advanced use of Microsoft Access and SQL Server databases

Knowledge and experience operating CMM & PC-DMIS Software
