Scope

The 2nd Shift Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality and safety standards before they reach customers. This role performs inspections, testing, training, documentation, and support essential production activities to verify compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Hours for this position are Monday through Thursday (4-10s) 3:15pm to 1:45am with overtime available.

Responsibilities :

• •Perform in-process inspections of products according to quality standards, products specifications and engineering drawings.
• •Identify and document nonconforming products and immediately communicate nonconformances to leadership to prevent further defects.
• •Stop production process when critical or repeated nonconformities are detected, following plant escalation procedures.
• •Quarantine, tag and log defective materials to prevent accidental use or shipment of nonconforming products.
• •Conduct containment activities such as sorting, rechecking, and verifying suspect products.
• •Collaborate with operators to reinforce proper procedures, inspection techniques and defect awareness.
• •Audit work instructions for manufacturing processes (SOP, WI, Specification Sheets, etc.).
• •Train operators and staff members on updates to SOPs, WI, Specification Sheets, etc.
• •Participate in investigation of root causes analysis of customer complaints and internal failures to determine root cause, corrective and preventive actions (8D, 5 Why, CAPA, etc.)
• •Support internal and external calibration in accordance with calibration schedule.
• •Conduct inspection of receiving raw materials against certifications and retain records for compliance (COA).
• •Assist in internal and external audits (ISO, IATF or customer audits).
• •Brainstorm ideas and improvements with engineers, production associates and managers for continuous improvements related to process quality and production efficiency.
• •Set up and inspect batch, casting, and finishing jobs for first piece conformity.
• •Support all areas of production to ensure quality and efficiency are maintained.
• •Support shipping and general production activities when required.
• •Communicate issues and production related information with management and 1st shift.
• •Takes initiative to begin tasks without waiting for direction.
• •Work in a manufacturing environment. (95% floor based / 5% administrative).
• •Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience :

• •High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in quality, quality certifications, engineering, or a related field preferred.
• •1–3 years of experience in a quality assurance, laboratory, or production environment (manufacturing experience required).
• •Proficiency using basic measuring devices (e.g., tape measures, calipers, scales, durometers, go-no-go gauges, etc.)
• •Ability to read engineering drawings and understand basic tolerancing.
• •Familiarity with QMS systems is highly desired (ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
• •Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• •Ability to solve problems and think critically.
• •Proficient with computers, especially in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data entry.
• •Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• •Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• •Ability to bend, stoop, walk, twist, lift, stand, push and pull material
