Job Description
The Respiratory Disease Specialist (RDS) provides comprehensive care and support for patients with respiratory disease by focusing on adherence to current asthma or COPD clinical practice guidelines, including individualized asthma action plans and COPD action plans.
Job Description
The RDS performs patient assessments to determine the patient’s respiratory care needs based on specific clinical treatment protocols. The RDS acts as a liaison to physicians and discharge planners to ensure proper length of stay. Provides in servicing to physicians, nurses, patients and various health care professionals on various topics and provides comprehensive and accurate education per Respiratory Case Management Program to the patients.
The Respiratory Disease Specialist (RDS) provides comprehensive education to patients diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Qualifications
AS degree in Respiratory Care from an approved Respiratory Care program, accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
Expert knowledge of clinical respiratory care assessment and advanced knowledge in chronic respiratory disease processes.
Extensive experience in planning and conducting in-service, competencies, education content and training.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
Licensed by the State of California Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Credentialed as a Pulmonary Disease Educator via the AARC course within six (6) months of hire
Credentialed as an Asthma Educator (AE-C) with-in (1) one year post hire
Certification in Tobacco Cessation within 6 (six) months of hire
Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

This position will serve adult patients.
Salary Range:
$72.28 - $96.07 USD Hour
