POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sales Operations Specialist at Vantage Mobility is a cross-functional role supporting profitable sales growth through vehicle acquisition, inventory management, data analytics, and continuous process improvement. This role uses sales, inventory, and market data to guide vehicle purchasing decisions, improve inventory quality and velocity, and increase the efficiency of the sales organization. The Sales Operations Specialist combines strategic analytical skills with automotive market knowledge and a process-improvement mindset to help the company buy the right vehicles at the right cost.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support acquisition of new and used vehicle inventory through auctions, wholesalers, fleet sources, dealer networks, and private-party channels, based on sales demand and profitability targets
  • Monitor wholesale and retail market conditions to identify changes in vehicle values, availability, pricing, and demand; negotiate vehicle purchases consistent with inventory specifications and financial targets
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vehicle suppliers, auction partners, dealers, and fleet operators, and maintain accurate records of vehicle evaluations, purchase decisions, and acquisition costs
  • Monitor inventory levels, aging, mix, cost, and sales velocity to ensure inventory supports current and anticipated sales demand
  • Identify aging, overvalued, or slow-moving inventory and recommend corrective actions; support inventory forecasting and replenishment strategies using sales trends and market intelligence
  • Develop reporting that gives leadership visibility into inventory health, turns, aging, availability, and acquisition cost
  • Develop and maintain sales and inventory databases, reporting processes, dashboards, and analytical tools
  • Collect, validate, and analyze sales, inventory, and market data; maintain data integrity and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies to analyze sales and inventory processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop standardized procedures
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to execute sales operations and continuous improvement projects, defining scope, objectives, and timelines

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education or Experience in automotive sales, vehicle acquisition, inventory management, or sales operations
  • Required certifications or licenses: None required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or demonstrated experience applying Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience with automotive auctions, wholesale vehicle sourcing, fleet purchasing, or vehicle remarketing
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar data analytics tools, and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial, sales, inventory, and market data
  • Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively across Sales, Finance, Operations, and Marketing
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications; experience with web-based automotive valuation, auction, inventory, CRM, or business intelligence platforms

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Performance may be measured through:

Vehicle acquisition volume, quality, and cost performance

Acquisition cost versus market value

Inventory aging, turns, mix, and forecast accuracy

Used vehicle gross margin performance

Sales and inventory data accuracy

Reporting accuracy and timeliness

Quality and business impact of analytical recommendations

Process cycle-time improvement and reduction in errors or rework

Completion, timeliness, and measurable impact of continuous improvement projects

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to communicate by phone, video conference, and in person
  • Ability to travel locally and, occasionally, nationally to vehicle auctions, suppliers, dealers, or company locations, and to inspect or evaluate vehicles as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with occasional travel to vehicle auctions, dealer locations, or supplier sites.
