Who We Are & What You’ll Do

Denver Arts and Venues (DAV) is the City and County of Denver agency responsible for overseeing Denver Public Art. DAV is also responsible for operating some of the region’s most renowned facilities, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center, Denver Coliseum, McNichols Civic Center Building and Theatre at Loretto Heights.

DAV is committed to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion as a fundamental guiding value and a practice woven into all of our strategies, initiatives, and decision-making processes. To address historic inequities and systemic racism, the City’s Equity Platform is focused on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and other historically marginalized communities, including but not limited to people with disabilities and LGBTQIA2S+. Ensuring meaningful representation from historically untapped and under resourced communities is essential to these practices.

We are currently seeking a Security Systems Operations Technician to join our team! The Security Systems Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and accuracy of all security technology systems at the Arts Complex, including access control, credentialing workflows, CCTV evidence retrieval, and key management tools. This role performs daily technical tasks, system configurations, audits, and documentation to ensure reliable, compliant, and high‑quality security data. In addition, the technician helps identify system trends, conducts analysis, and supports reporting that strengthens overall security operations. The position works closely with the Security Program Administrator to execute system‑level activities that support events, investigations, and emergency response. It is a hands‑on technical role focused on system integrity and operational administration rather than supervision or event security leadership.

Specifically, as the Security Systems Operations Technician, you will:

  • Administer Security Systems: Manage user accounts, system configurations, and data integrity; coordinate with Technology Services and vendors to conduct updates, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance across security technology platforms.
  • Oversee Credentialing & Access Control Operations: Create, modify, and terminate credentials; issue temporary event access; and conduct routine access audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Implement Key & Asset Control Processes: Implement access control processes to include maintaining automated key cabinets; conducting physical key issuance, returns, core changes, and inventory tracking to maintain key control integrity.
  • Retrieve & Document CCTV Evidence: Locate, export, and preserve CCTV footage following chain‑of‑custody procedures; support evidence, incident and CORA requests.
  • Produce Reports & Maintain Data Quality: Prepare recurring reports and audit summaries; validate data and ensure accuracy and compliance across all security systems.
  • Support Operational Communications: Program, distribute, and troubleshoot radios and related systems; coordinate with the security operations center on alerts, access requests, alarm verification, and incident response.
  • Develop Documentation & Support Users: Create and maintain system guides and checklists; provide daily assistance to staff and contractors regarding system use, access, and credentialing.
  • Assist Investigations & Emergency Response: Retrieve evidence, compile system data, and support emergency response activities, drills, and situational system operations.
  • Support Emergency Notification System Development: Collaborate with Technology Services and the AVD Electronics Technician to research, design, and recommend a sitewide audio and visual emergency notification system; assist with coordination, requirements gathering, and project execution for this multi‑phase initiative.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with hands‑on experience managing physical security systems such as cameras, access control, and key management. While this is not a cybersecurity role, a general understanding of physical and cybersecurity principles is beneficial.

Additionally, our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

  • 3+ years of experience administering security technology systems such as access control, credentialing platforms, CCTV systems, key management tools, visitor management applications, and incident/dispatch reporting systems, including evidence retrieval, system audits, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as access control, daily activity reporting and incident management programs, digital key/core tracking systems, metal detectors or similar physical security technologies.
  • Experience supporting operations in large public facilities, performing arts centers, or high‑volume event environments.
  • Ability to work quickly with large volumes of data, prioritize competing tasks, and remain effective under frequent interruptions.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new systems rapidly, interpret analytics, and contribute to dashboard development.
  • Experience collaborating with integrators or technical partners to ensure systems remain aligned, interoperable, and functioning as intended.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay adaptable, focused, and solutions‑oriented in fast‑paced, high‑pressure operational environments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirements: Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience administering business operations or operational programs and/or assisting professional/management staff with administrative or operational functions.
