Senior Banking Adviser, Porirua

  • Porirua Branch
  • Full time, Permanent position
  • Tuesday to Saturday

Mō te Tūranga – About the role

As a Senior Banking Adviser, you’re the go‑to expert in branch — the person customers trust with their biggest financial decisions and the one who can turn a home‑loan conversation into a moment of genuine excitement and confidence.

You’ll own the lending journey end‑to‑end, guiding customers through everything from their first home to their next big investment, all while dazzling them with advice that’s clear, and tailored to their world. You’ll uncover needs they haven’t yet voiced, champion digital tools that make banking easier, and ensure every customer walks away feeling supported, empowered, and ready for what’s next.

This is a role for someone who loves people, loves community, and isn’t afraid to paint your town RED. You’ll be out building relationships with local businesses, schools, and community groups, spotting opportunities to grow Westpac’s presence and helping customers build financial confidence along the way. Inside the branch, you’re the senior voice — setting the tone for what exceptional customer experience looks like. If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy meaningful conversations, and want to make a real impact in your community, this is your chance to shine.

Nā tāu rourou – What you’ll bring?

You’re confident, curious, and energised by great conversations. You know lending inside out, you’re digitally savvy, and you’re passionate about helping customers make smart, informed decisions. You’re a natural relationship‑builder, a steady mentor, and someone who brings both heart and hustle to every day.

  • 3+ years’ experience in banking and/or lending
  • Level 5 Residential Lending Qualification (or working toward it)
  • Strong knowledge of lending, banking products, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills
  • Digital confidence, with the ability to coach customers and colleagues
  • Experience building relationships, influencing outcomes, and supporting or mentoring others
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to ethical, customer‑centric decision‑making
