Role: Senior Engineer / Analyst – Civil & Structural

Location: Hybrid working with one of the following locations as primary: Derby, Warrington or Manchester

The Team

The Reactor Island Civil & Structural team is central to the development of the RR SMR design, responsible for the analysis and substantiation of safety-critical structures. The team applies advanced engineering and analytical techniques to ensure designs meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.

The Role

In this context, we are looking for a Senior Engineer / Analyst – Civil & Structural to report to a Reactor Island Civil & Structural Team Leader. This role will lead the development and delivery of structural analysis activities, supporting the design and substantiation of critical reactor structures and contributing to the overall safety case for the programme.

What We’ll Need You to Do

We’ll need you to:

Leading the development, execution and interpretation of finite element analysis models to support structural design and substantiation

Defining analysis approaches, including model fidelity, to address complex structural behaviours and loading conditions

Supporting the development of safety-classified structures through robust, traceable analytical evidence aligned to quality standards

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure analysis outputs inform and influence the evolving design

What You’ll Bring

As you can see, this is a pivotal role within the programme, requiring a technically credible and collaborative individual who can lead analytical activities, influence design decisions, and communicate complex engineering challenges clearly and effectively, alongside

Experience & Qualifications

A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent demonstrable industry experience)

We’ll ask you about your experience leading structural analysis activities and delivering engineering solutions within infrastructure or other regulated, safety-critical environments

Strong technical knowledge of finite element analysis, structural behaviour, and relevant design codes and standards

Experience in the analysis of reinforced concrete and/or steel structures, including consideration of complex loading scenarios such as seismic, thermal, pressure, or extreme events

Chartered status and nuclear industry experience are desirable, but not essential.

Location

This role offers flexible and hybrid working. You will be expected to attend a UK office location as required to support collaboration and programme delivery.

What’s in It for You

We anticipate paying a salary of between £48,000-£63,000

Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 7%

Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package

Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.

Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
