About the Role

We're looking for a collaborative and proactive Senior Procurement Specialist to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the reliable supply of materials that support our production operations and business growth.

This role combines hands-on procurement execution with strategic sourcing responsibilities. You'll manage the flow of materials from suppliers to production, support commercialization initiatives, and partner closely with teams across Planning, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain. Success in this role requires a strong ability to solve problems, build relationships, manage competing priorities, and drive results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your portfolio, contribute to supplier and sourcing strategies, and help ensure Riverside continues to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in connecting with procurement professionals who bring a combination of operational excellence, business partnership, and strategic thinking.

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience managing procurement activities within a manufacturing, food, beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or similar environment

Exposure to the full procure-to-pay process, including purchasing, supplier management, inventory considerations, and material planning

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify risks and work cross-functionally to resolve them

Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative approach to working with suppliers and internal partners

Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to drive initiatives from planning through execution

Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred)

A continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for leveraging technology, data, and new tools to improve processes and efficiency

A values-driven approach, demonstrating adaptability, accountability, and respect in interactions with both suppliers and colleagues

Key Responsibilities

Procurement:

Review material requirements planning (MRP) outputs and place purchase orders in accordance with the business unit's production schedules and inventory targets

Monitor order confirmations, shipment status, and delivery timelines to ensure materials arrive on time and in full

Proactively resolve delivery issues, shortages, or quality concerns by working closely with suppliers and internal teams

Maintain accurate supplier, part, and PO data in SAP; request the update of pricing, lead times, and delivery terms as needed

Support new material setups and coordinate changes with planning, QA, and receiving

Collaborate with inventory control to manage excess, obsolete, or slow-moving materials

Liaise with finance to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely payments

Participate in supplier performance reviews focused on delivery reliability and responsiveness

Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies

Identify process improvement opportunities to increase procurement efficiency and accuracy

Support in inbound logistics activities

Sourcing:

Develop and execute sourcing strategies across assigned categories to support business objectives

Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, service, and sustainability criteria for assigned categories

Lead sourcing activities for assigned categories, including vendor selection, RFPs/RFQs and contract negotiations

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (packaging teams, quality, production and sales) to align sourcing decisions with business needs

Serve as the Sourcing & Procurement lead on the Business Unit's commercialization team, working closely with x-functional team members to ensure material readiness for new product launches

How Success Is Measured

Success in this role will be measured through a combination of operational performance, material availability, commercialization support, inventory management, and cost optimization, including:

% of commercialization projects where all materials were delivered and available by the required trial or production start date

Master Scheduling Adherence (MSA) - Number of scheduling disruptions due to material availability

Purchase Price Variance (PPV) - Difference between standard and actual cost; tracked to ensure cost containment or proper variance justification

Material Write-Off Rate - The percentage of purchased materials that are written off due to expiration, obsolescence, damage, or excess inventory

Cost Savings Achieved ($ or %) from re-sourcing, negotiations, or bundling initiatives

Please note this role is an existing vacancy.

Values-led: You’ll be a member of a thoughtful and compassionate team that prioritizes respect, teamwork and resourcefulness along with a good dash of fun. Sometimes, even making granola bars is hard, and life’s too short to take ourselves so seriously that we don’t enjoy the journey.

Unparalleled experiences and opportunities : We’re still determining who we are and what we can be. Help us shape what this organization will look like and what we’ll offer the world, into the future. This means rolling up your sleeves and sometimes building the process – fast! – while employing it. At Riverside, progress occasionally means proceeding imperfectly, and we’re okay with that, as long as we’re staying true to our values and learning and improving along the way.

Access to everyone: We’re a flat organization with few silos which means you’ll have full access to everyone from our founders to our production staff. Even when employees dress up, they wear steel-toed shoes. So don’t be shy. Speak up, share your ideas and go places you normally wouldn’t – like the plant, or the boardroom.

Personal development : We’ll support and empower you to chart your own path and reach any heights you set for yourself. Career paths at Riverside are carved by the people walking on them, not dictated by leaders. Count on us to give you the training and tools to grow and progress.
