Build the future of digital health with AI at your side.

At Resmed, we're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who combines strong engineering fundamentals with product thinking, technical leadership, and curiosity about how AI is reshaping software development. In this role, you'll help design and build cloud-native applications and services that power digital health experiences used at scale. You'll work closely with engineering, product, UX, quality, and security teams to solve meaningful customer and business problems through simple, reliable, and scalable software.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys owning complex challenges from concept through production. You'll influence technical direction, mentor fellow engineers, and help raise the engineering bar across the team. You'll also play a key role in exploring how AI can improve the way software is designed, developed, tested, and operated, helping the broader team adopt practical and effective engineering practices. If you're passionate about building great products, solving real-world problems, and continuously learning in a rapidly changing technology landscape, we'd love to hear from you.

Even if you don't meet every requirement below, we encourage you to apply if you believe you'd be a strong fit for the role.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and operate reliable, secure, scalable cloud-native applications and services.
  • Own complex features and technical initiatives from problem definition and architecture through production and continuous improvement.
  • Translate customer and product challenges into clear technical designs and practical implementation plans.
  • Make thoughtful architecture decisions while balancing scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, delivery speed, and technical debt.
  • Use AI coding assistants, coding agents, and AI-enabled workflows to improve software development, testing, debugging, documentation, code review, and operational support.
  • Explore new agentic and automated development approaches and identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
  • Apply strong engineering judgement to review, validate, test, and challenge AI-generated solutions.
  • Build clean, maintainable APIs, services, and systems using modern engineering practices.
  • Establish robust testing, observability, monitoring, and operational processes for systems you own.
  • Diagnose complex production issues and drive incident investigation, resolution, and prevention.
  • Lead technical design discussions and communicate architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Reduce technical debt, simplify systems, improve developer experience, and automate repetitive work.
  • Provide thoughtful code and design reviews that strengthen both software quality and team capability.
  • Mentor engineers and support their growth in technical problem solving, engineering practices, and AI-enabled development.
  • Collaborate across teams to solve problems that extend beyond your immediate area of ownership.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building and operating production systems.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages.
  • Experience designing APIs, services, distributed systems, or cloud-native applications.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, observability, debugging, and production operations.
  • Ability to navigate complex, ambiguous technical challenges and make sound engineering trade-offs.
  • Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and influencing engineering decisions without formal authority.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering standards through technical reviews and guidance.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
  • A product mindset with the ability to understand the customer and business problem behind the technology.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted software engineering tools and workflows while maintaining accountability for quality and outcomes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building and operating applications on AWS or another major cloud platform.
  • Experience with modern cloud technologies such as containers, serverless architectures, event-driven systems, infrastructure as code, or distributed data platforms.
  • Experience with AI tools and agents such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar technologies.
  • Experience applying LLMs, agents, RAG, tool calling, MCP, or AI APIs within products or engineering workflows.
  • Experience in healthcare, regulated environments, or systems handling sensitive data.

What Sets You Apart

  • Ownership Mindset: You focus on solving the underlying problem, not just completing assigned tasks.
  • Curiosity: You actively explore new technologies, approaches, and ideas, then share what works with others.
  • Adaptability: You embrace change and remain open to learning new tools, technologies, and ways of working.
  • Pragmatism: You balance technical excellence with business needs and make thoughtful trade-offs when required.
  • Collaboration: You build strong partnerships, seek diverse perspectives, and elevate the people around you.
  • Growth Orientation: You invest in developing both your own skills and the capabilities of the broader team.
