Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Test

Department & Team: WEM (Recording Team)

Reports to: Shiny Ponmani Navaraj

Location: Chennai (Flexible)

Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, you will design and implement test strategies for new features on the Genesys Cloud Platform. You’ll lead testing in a cross-functional team with Product Management, Development, UX, and Documentation. Beyond ensuring quality across functionality, security, performance, and usability, you will leverage GenAI-powered tools to accelerate test design, defect analysis, and exploratory validation. Your impact will be measured not just in finding defects, but in raising the team’s productivity, decision-making, and long-term velocity through AI-driven quality practices.

This is not just executing tests or maintaining pipelines. It isn’t a narrow automation role. It is a holistic quality engineering role that balances manual, automated, accessibility, security, scalability, and AI-augmented testing to elevate both coverage and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

• •Collaborate with PMs and Developers to understand intent, scope, and roadmap.
• •Review designs and architectures, applying AI-assisted risk analysis to anticipate gaps.
• •Define test plans/strategies that include AI-generated test coverage suggestions.
• •Design and implement automated tests for APIs and UIs, incorporating AI-assisted refactoring.
• •Lead exploratory testing and bug hunts, using GenAI to highlight edge cases and user perspectives.
• •Maintain and improve pipelines, applying AI-driven triage tools to speed defect analysis.
• •Mentor junior engineers, modeling how to balance traditional techniques with AI-augmented workflows.
• •Innovate with AI tooling to accelerate QA workflows in feature delivery and to maintain long-term test stability.

Minimum Requirements:

• •5+ years in software testing or data engineering for large-scale systems.
• •Experience with Java (or similar), Jenkins, Selenium/Playwright, TestNG/JUnit, REST APIs, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• •Familiarity with observability tools (Sumo Logic, New Relic, etc.).
• •Strong technical and communication skills to collaborate across global teams.
• •Ability to evaluate risks, guide design trade-offs, and implement robust automation frameworks.
• •A mindset of mentorship and continuous learning, helping the team reframe AI not as a replacement but as an amplifier of productivity and creativity.

Desirable Skills:

• •Practical experience with AI tools for testing, debugging, or quality analysis.
• •Proficient in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate coding, debugging, and code review, while maintaining strong judgment and accountability.
• •Experience introducing AI tools into workflows—for example, using LLMs to generate test cases from requirements, debug failed builds faster, or explore alternative test strategies.
