Our company's Animal Health is a premier animal health organization with a longstanding reputation for innovation and trusted partnerships among beef and dairy producers, veterinarians, nutritionists, and industry stakeholders. The Senior Territory Representative is responsible for leading sales, market development, and business growth across Eastern North Dakota, Northwest Minnesota, and Northeast South Dakota. This role develops and executes territory business strategies, strengthens customer and channel relationships, manages territory resources effectively, and delivers sustainable, profitable growth across our company's Animal Health portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and execute comprehensive territory business plans that drive sales growth, market penetration, product adoption, and market share expansion across the assigned geography.
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with veterinarians, producers, distribution partners, nutritionists, and industry influencers to strengthen our company's Animal Health's presence throughout the territory.
- Identify territory opportunities, market dynamics, and competitive threats, and develop strategies to capitalize on growth opportunities while addressing business challenges.
- Drive demand generation and product utilization through regular customer engagement, educational programs, field events, and collaboration with key industry stakeholders.
- Partner with distribution teams, National Account Managers, Corporate Account Teams, and other internal stakeholders to align business objectives and maximize territory performance.
- Leverage a consultative approach to understand regional business needs and deliver solutions that improve customer outcomes while advancing our company's Animal Health's business objectives.
- Collaborate across species and functional teams to promote the full our company's Animal Health portfolio and identify opportunities to expand customer adoption across multiple product categories.
- Analyze territory performance, sales trends, competitive activity, and market conditions to inform business decisions and optimize resource allocation.
- Prioritize time, resources, and investment opportunities across the territory to maximize market share growth and return on investment.
- Effectively manage territory expenses and resources to maximize return on investment while achieving business goals.
- Communicate customer insights, industry trends, and market intelligence to leadership and cross-functional teams to support business planning and strategic decision-making.
- Partner with Field Technical Services and other support teams to develop and deliver educational, technical, and value-added programs that strengthen customer relationships and drive business growth.
- Maintain a high level of expertise regarding animal health products, emerging industry trends, production practices, and the competitive landscape to effectively position our company's Animal Health solutions.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration by sharing best practices, market knowledge, and successful territory strategies with colleagues across the region.
- Take ownership of professional development by actively pursuing learning opportunities and achieving development objectives established with leadership.
Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Five (5) years of relevant sales, livestock production, animal health, agricultural, or territory management experience with a bachelor's degree; or
- Ten (10) years of relevant sales, livestock production, animal health, agricultural, or territory management experience without a bachelor's degree.
Required Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of the beef and dairy industries, including Cow/Calf, Feedlot, and Dairy production systems.
- Proven ability to develop and execute territory business plans that drive sales growth and market penetration.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence different stakeholders, including veterinarians, producers, nutritionists, and distribution partners.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to effectively manage a large geographic territory.
- Ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and business analytics to identify opportunities and inform territory decisions.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, customer needs, and business priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to effectively utilize mobile technologies and business systems.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the territory, including overnight travel and occasional weekend activities.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Animal health, livestock production, or agricultural sales experience.
- Established relationships within the livestock, veterinary, and agricultural communities throughout the territory.
- Territory management and business development experience.
- Experience working with Cow/Calf, Feedlot, Dairy, animal health, or livestock monitoring operations.
- Strong territory planning, market development, and opportunity identification skills.
- Knowledge of animal health protocols, biological products, pharmaceuticals, and production management practices.
- Understanding of animal health distribution channels and experience working with distributors and reseller networks.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze market conditions, competitive activity, and sales trends to drive business decisions.
- Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.
