Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D0849000 and is part of the NE FMS 1, National Guard. INDEFINITE EMPLOYMENT IS TEMPORARY IN NATURE AND WILL LAST MORE THAN ONE YEAR BUT NO MORE THAN SIX YEARS. BENEFITS ARE THE SAME AS A PERMANENT APPOINTMENT. MAY CONVERT TO PERMANENT WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION.

Duties

As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN, GS-2005-7, duties include: -- Performs routine and nonroutine material coordination duties for special programs, maintenance, or production shops. -- Responsible for local management of decentralized and decontrolled items which requires technical intervention to assure effective supply support and economy. Items are less stable or standardized and do not lend themselves to routine control through the use of the computer and variable supply level formulas. Plans requirements, both quantitative and monetary, to satisfy customer needs. Authorizes procurement and is responsible for funds management. -- Responsible for limited aspects of storage management. May develop and install local procedures and techniques to achieve and maintain smooth, effective, and coordination storage operations. -- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in the Nebraska Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform daily. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. OPEN AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: AREA 1 and 2 DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: AREA 1: Current permanent and indefinite technicians of the Nebraska Army or Air National Guard; and current Title 5 employees of the Nebraska Military Department who are military members of the Nebraska National Guard. AREA 2: All Drill Status/M-Day members and temporary technicians of the Nebraska Air or Army National Guard. AREA 3: Current military service members who are willing and eligible to become members of the Nebraska Air or Army National Guard. AREA 4: All qualified candidates eligible and willing to become a member of the Nebraska National Air or Army National Guard prior to the effective date of hire. Military Grades: Maximum: E8; Minimum: E1; Military Grade inversion within the full time work forces is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of the personnel supervised. Compatibility will be followed in accordance with 32 USC 709(b) and 10 USC 10216. Compatibility requirements must be met prior to appointment to the position. Security Clearance/Background Check requirements: In order to comply with US DOD requirements and ensure the safety and security of the missions, programs, property and personnel of the Nebraska Military Department, employees must obtain the appropriate background investigation and maintain the level of security clearance assigned to their respective work. Failure to obtain, within one year of appointment, and maintain the designated type of security clearance/background check required for the respective work may result in a job offer being rescinded, separations of employment, or other actions as may be deemed in the best interest of the agency. Nebraska National Guard Personnel Security Manager - Please send all inquires to [email protected] GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered. Knowledge of basic or commonly applied rules, procedures, or operations such as, filling out, posting, filing, controlling, or coding documents and/or transactions. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts. Experience performing various aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to segments in one or more major areas of supply management. Experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc.
