Summary
This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST, Position Description Number PDD1254000 , and is part of the SC DOL, South Carolina Army National Guard.
Duties
This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4/G-4), State Surface Maintenance Management Office. The primary purpose of the work is to analyze and evaluate maintenance operations, production, and procedures; and make recommendations for improvement. This requires practical knowledge of, and skill in applying, principles, concepts, and methods of surface maintenance equipment, facilities, and service operations. Work involves managing, supervising, leading, or performing administrative work that involves: a combination of work characteristic of two or more series in the Equipment, Facilities, and Services Group where no one type of work is series controlling; or work classified in this group for which no other series has been established.
Qualifications
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Areas 1 and 2 Only. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard *Note- Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1. GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (as stated above) that provided experience, education or training applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in designing projects or planning assignments. Experience using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. *4. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 5. Education
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Army National Guard and Air National Guard Officers GS-11 through GS-14: Positions An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is mandatory. A graduate degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum. Army National Guard Officer GS-09 and GS-10 Positions: For Army National Guard Second and First Lieutenants must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree with at least 90 validated credit hours in a specified program. For Captains and above, must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Army National Guard Warrant Officers GS-09 through GS-12: Positions Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum. Army National Guard and Air National Guard Enlisted GS-09 through GS-12: Positions Must have a high school diploma or a general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum.
