Senior Robotics Teleoperator
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (On-site / Field) Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $35–$45/hour, depending on experience
About Noble Machines
Noble Machines builds multipurpose robots to support human workers in the world's toughest jobs—turning dangerous work from a necessity into a choice. Our work demands reliability, robustness, and readiness for the unexpected—on time, every time. We're assembling a mission-driven team focused on delivering real impact in heavy industry, from construction and mining to energy. If you're driven to build rugged, reliable products that solve real-world problems, we'd love to talk.
Position Overview
Noble Machines is hiring a Senior Robotics Teleoperator to lead our teleoperations function. You'll be the most skilled operator on the team, executing our hardest and highest-stakes tasks yourself, setting the standard for how our robots are operated, and coaching the rest of the teleoperator team. As the team scales, this role grows into managing a direct report and owning team scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
Teleoperation Leadership: Serve as the team's most skilled operator; take point on the hardest, highest-stakes manipulation and mobility tasks using VR headsets, specialized controllers, or haptic devices.
Team Development: Train, coach, and set quality standards for teleoperators; onboard new operators as the team grows.
Scheduling & Operations: Own shift/session scheduling for the teleoperations team, ensuring coverage and readiness — a direct report will join this role as the team scales.
Protocol Ownership: Define and refine operating and testing protocols; ensure consistency across sessions and operators.
Physical Skill Evaluation: Push robotic platforms to their limits; own reporting on dexterity, strength, and adaptability findings across simulated and real-world environments.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Be the primary point of contact between teleoperations and hardware/software/AI engineering; surface and help resolve robot ergonomics, control latency, and physical limitations.
Field & Lab Support: Oversee test environment setup and hardware management; support client-facing/field operations as needed, including travel.
Requirements
1–2+ years of hands-on teleoperation or robot operation experience, or an equivalent high-precision technical/physical skill background.
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, or mentor others in a technical or physical-skill environment.
Exceptional hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills.
Technical aptitude with hardware, basic computer troubleshooting, and terminal or robotics interfaces.
Strong communication skills — able to translate hands-on physical feedback to engineering teams and give clear direction to operators.
Comfortable owning scheduling and day-to-day operational decisions in a fast-paced startup environment.
Nice to Have
Experience with VR interfaces, haptic control systems, or gaming peripherals.
Familiarity with Linux environments, ROS/ROS2, or Python scripting.
Prior supervisory, shift-lead, or team-lead experience.
Background or interest in heavy industry, construction, or mechanical systems.
What We Offer
Pay: $35–$45/hour, depending on experience.
Clear Growth: A defined path into people management (a direct report) and broader operations leadership as the team scales.
Cutting-Edge Impact: A leadership role in shaping how Noble Machines operates and trains the next generation of industrial, multi-purpose robots.
