Job Description:

Are you a driven student journalist eager to work in an award-winning newsroom before your senior year? The Wall Street Journal internship program offers an unparalleled opportunity for college juniors to gain practical work experience in our award-winning newsrooms in New York, Detroit, San Francisco and Los Angeles with mentorship and tailored training sessions. Graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline – October 31, 2026 – who are returning to school in the fall are also eligible to apply. Graduating seniors should apply to WSJ News Associates .

We are looking for ambitious students who think foremost about the audience and are able to work independently under deadline pressure. You don’t need to be a business or economics expert, but you must have a commitment to high journalistic standards.

Desk assignments may include:

Automobiles, Detroit

Technology, San Francisco

Markets, New York

Corporate Reporting, New York

Dow Jones Newswires, New York

Personal Technology Reporting, New York

Personal Finance Reporting, New York

You will:

  • Work closely with other reporters and editors to deliver prompt, accurate reporting of news.
  • Have the opportunity to write features and cover breaking news ranging from economic indicators and company earnings to big industry or national trends.
  • Pitch your own stories, videos, graphics and/or social posts and follow them through to completion with supervision and guidance from an editor.

You have:

  • Completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
  • Dedication to high journalism standards.
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills.
  • A demonstrated interest in business reporting is a plus, though prior business or economics reporting experience isn’t required.
  • Experience with and interest in responsible AI experimentation, data analysis, data-driven projects is encouraged.
