Lorain County Public Health WIC is seeking an energetic, motivated, and proactive WIC Clinic Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our WIC clinic sites. This dynamic leadership role combines staff supervision, clinic operations, participant services, clinical support, community engagement, and program development to support the health and well-being of women, infants, and children throughout Lorain County.
The Clinic Supervisor will lead a dedicated team, ensure efficient and consistent clinic operations, support staff development and accountability, strengthen community partnerships, and help ensure families have timely access to WIC services. This position works both in the clinic and has dedicated administrative work time.
FUNCTION
Under the supervision of the WIC Director, the WIC Clinic Supervisor oversees eligibility, reception and scheduling services, clinic operations, staff supervision, site management, community outreach, and adherence to WIC and agency policies and procedures.
The Clinic Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership and support to clinic staff, identifies opportunities to improve clinic operations and participant access, and ensures assigned responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. The position requires a proactive leader who is committed to public health, excellent customer service, staff development, community engagement, and maintaining a positive and accountable work environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Supervise WIC Administrative Support staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, observing performance, conducting chart reviews, providing feedback, and completing performance evaluations.
Provide staff training and oversight to ensure consistent and accurate implementation of WIC policies, procedures, and clinic processes.
Provide direct clinic services as a Health Aide (eligibility and measurements), Health Professional (nutrition assessment and counseling), or both, based on the employee's qualifications and program needs.
Oversee clinic scheduling and access, including clinic templates, appointment availability, missed appointment reports, appointment reminders, and protocols designed to improve show rates and participant access to services.
Complete administrative and program management responsibilities during designated administrative work time, including data collection, report preparation, monitoring clinic performance, and completing assigned projects.
Manage clinic supply needs and budget, including monitoring inventory, identifying supply needs, and making purchases for WIC clinic sites within established guidelines.
Manage day-to-day operations of the clinic site, including staffing, schedule adjustments, participant and staff concerns, communication between clinic sites, facility needs, and adherence to program and agency requirements.
Proactively develop and maintain community partnerships with organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to strengthen outreach, collaboration, referrals, and access to WIC services.
Support WIC outreach and communication efforts, including website updates, social media, fax communications, Zoom, text messaging, and other communication methods.
Represent Lorain County Public Health and the WIC program at community events, public speaking engagements, presentations, coalition meetings, committees, and other activities supporting maternal and child health.
Compile, monitor, and report program data, including statistics needed for WIC reports, clinic performance measures, inventory, and other assigned program requirements.
Ensure timely completion of assigned projects, reports, and program requirements with minimal follow-up or direction.
Attend state and local WIC meetings and other meetings as assigned.
Communicate with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) regarding clinic operations, program requirements, and site-related issues as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the WIC Director.
Report upon directive in an emergency.
MAJOR WORK CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge of : WIC/agency policies and procedures; best practice customer service techniques; clinic operations and workflow; agency strategic priorities; maternal child health resources; basic data collection, reporting and budget management.
Ability to : Supervise, support, and hold staff accountable; address and work through staff and participant concerns professionally; express eligibility requirements in written or oral form to individuals and groups; proactively form community partnerships; communicate and promote WIC through multiple forms of media and outeaach; effectively represent the agency through public speaking and professional community engagement; manage a budget; independently prioritize tasks and manage competing responsibilities; consistently meet deadlines with minimal supervision; provide excellent customer service; maintain a positive, supportive and accountable work environment; ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures; and work collaboratively.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet the qualifications for a WIC Health Professional or WIC Health Aide and possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. Three years of experience working in a clinical setting or WIC program is preferred. Supervisory or leadership experience is also preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Able to lift objects of weight up to twenty-five (25) pounds. This position is office-based at LCPH and may require travel across Lorain County. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods and bend and stretch as needed throughout the work day.
REQUIRED
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license with ongoing proof of auto insurance and ability to travel with reliable transportation.
COMPENSATION: $39.15 – $49.96/hour plus excellent benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental, and life insurance plus paid vacation, personal leave, holidays, and sick leave.
Starting pay will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, and alignment with our established pay structure.
