The Actuarial Consultant plays a key role in delivering analytical and actuarial services to employers across Canada. The incumbent conducts complex analyses, prepares actuarial studies and financial projections, interprets workers’ compensation data, and translates technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Working closely with client experience, claims management, reporting and business solutions teams, the Actuarial Consultant supports clients in understanding their workers’ compensation performance, assessing financial risks and identifying opportunities to improve outcomes.
  • This is a mid-level individual-contributor role combining technical expertise, business judgment and direct client interaction.

What You'll Do

Actuarial Analysis and Studies

  • Conduct actuarial and financial analyses related to workers’ compensation costs, premiums, assessments, claims experience and employer performance.
  • Develop and maintain models used to estimate future claims costs, premiums, reserves and potential financial outcomes.
  • Analyze historical trends and emerging experience to identify material changes, risks and opportunities.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of claims developments, legislative or regulatory changes, and workers’ compensation program decisions.
  • Support analyses related to experience-rating programs across Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Perform scenario modelling and sensitivity analyses to support business and client decisions.
  • Validate data, investigate discrepancies and work with internal stakeholders to resolve data-quality issues.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of analytical tools, reporting solutions and standardized methodologies.
  • Translate data into meaningful insights that support both strategic and operational decision-making.

Client Consulting and Presentations

  • Present analytical findings, actuarial results and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Explain complex technical information in a clear, concise and business-oriented manner.
  • Prepare professional client deliverables, including reports, presentations, executive summaries and supporting documentation.
  • Respond to client questions and provide guidance on workers’ compensation performance and financial implications.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each client’s operations, risk profile and objectives to ensure that analyses remain relevant and actionable.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Approximately four to seven years of relevant experience in actuarial analysis, workers’ compensation, insurance, consulting or financial analytics.
  • Progress toward, or completion of, a recognized actuarial designation is an asset.
  • Experience working with Canadian workers’ compensation programs, experience-rating methodologies or occupational health and safety data is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with analytical, reporting or business-intelligence tools.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and developing financial or actuarial models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an mandatory

Salary Range: $58,100-$107,900 CAD

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. En travaillant en étroite collaboration avec les équipes de l’expérience client, de la gestion des réclamations, des rapports et des Solutions d’affaires, le conseiller ou la conseillère en actuariat aide les clients à comprendre leur rendement en matière d’indemnisation des accidents du travail, à évaluer les risques financiers et à cerner les possibilités d’améliorer les résultats.

Il s’agit d’un poste de niveau intermédiaire comportant une contribution individuelle qui allie expertise technique, jugement commercial et interaction directe avec la clientèle.

Ce que vous ferez

Analyse et études actuarielles

  • Effectuer des analyses actuarielles et financières liées aux coûts, aux primes, aux cotisations, à l’historique de la demande de règlement et au rendement des employeurs en matière d’indemnisation des travailleurs.
  • Élaborer et tenir à jour des modèles utilisés pour estimer les coûts futurs des réclamations, les primes, les réserves et les résultats financiers potentiels.
  • Analyser les tendances historiques et l’expérience émergente afin de cerner les changements importants, les risques et les opportunités.
  • Évaluer l’incidence financière de l’évolution des réclamations, des changements législatifs ou réglementaires et des décisions concernant les programmes d’indemnisation des travailleurs.
  • Soutenir les analyses liées aux programmes de tarification par l’expérience dans les territoires canadiens.
  • Effectuer des modélisations de scénarios et des analyses de sensibilité pour appuyer les décisions d’affaires et les décisions des clients.
  • Valider les données, examiner les écarts et collaborer avec les parties prenantes internes pour résoudre les problèmes de qualité des données.
  • Contribuer à l’élaboration et à l’amélioration d’outils d’analyse, de solutions de production de rapports et de méthodologies normalisées.
  • Transformer les données en données significatives qui appuient la prise de décisions stratégiques et opérationnelles.
