Job Description Summary

The lead Test Engineer is responsible for the technical execution, data analysis, and troubleshooting of aero-derivative gas turbine testing. You will serve as the primary technical interface during the testing phase, ensuring that engines meet rigorous mechanical integrity, performance and quality standards while driving continuous improvement in test cell operations and safety.

Job Description

The Opportunity

Gas turbine performance doesn't reveal itself on a drawing — it reveals itself on a test cell. As a Test Engineer at Aero Alliance, you will be the primary technical authority during engine testing for the LM2500 and LM6000 aero-derivative gas turbine product lines. From leading test execution and analysing performance data to resolving complex mechanical anomalies and driving process improvements, your work directly determines whether an engine is cleared to operate in the field.

This is a role for an engineer who is energised by technical precision, thrives under real operational pressure, and wants their work to have a direct, measurable impact on product quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead test execution and analysis — execute engine testing for the LM2500 and LM6000 product lines; analyse engine performance and vibration data to verify adherence to specifications, guarantees, and mechanical integrity standards.
  • Own technical troubleshooting — act as the primary technical point of contact for complex issues involving test cell systems, instrumentation, and turbine anomalies; drive root-cause analysis to resolve performance and mechanical discrepancies.
  • Standardise and maintain test processes — develop and maintain test procedures covering commissioning, pre-checks, mapping, and test sequences; ensure all testing activities align with global standardisation efforts.
  • Collaborate across functions — work closely with manufacturing engineering, shop operations, and G0 teams to resolve fleet-wide technical challenges and support the successful introduction of new products and processes.
  • Drive operational excellence — participate in shop operational reviews; monitor and improve FPY (First-Pass Yield) and cycle time through Lean methodology and continuous improvement activity including Kaizen events.
  • Communicate technical outcomes — prepare and deliver detailed technical reports for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear insights into testing outcomes and corrective actions taken.

About You

You are an experienced test engineer with a strong technical foundation in aero-derivative gas turbine systems and a track record of delivering rigorous, data-driven test programmes in complex operational environments.

Required

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline — a formal qualification is advantageous, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
  • Proven experience in aero-derivative gas turbine testing and operations.
  • Working knowledge of data acquisition systems and engine control logic.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics accurately.
  • English fluency, with the ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to support global test cell facilities as required.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with the LM2500 and/or LM6000 gas turbine platforms.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodology and structured continuous improvement frameworks.
