AML Coordinator, São Paulo

Location: São Paulo, Brazil

Team description

SumUp's global Money Laundering Reporting Officer team sits at the centre of how we protect the business, our customers and the wider financial system from financial crime. This role will be instrumental in strengthening SumUp's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing programme in Brazil, bringing structure, rigour and clear accountability to a fast-growing market. It's an opportunity to shape governance and quality assurance standards that don't just satisfy regulators, but genuinely improve how the business identifies and responds to risk, working closely with compliance, operations, data, product and senior leadership along the way.

What you'll do

Define quality assurance standards and review anti-money laundering control outputs

Assess the completeness, accuracy, consistency and reliability of financial crime data

Identify root causes of control and data quality issues and track remediation through to completion

Manage anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing communication with the Central Bank of Brazil

Support market expansion by establishing financial crime risks, controls, reporting and escalation processes before and after launch

You'll be great for this role if...

Experience of at least seven years in anti-money laundering, financial crime compliance, AML governance, quality assurance or a similar regulated environment, ideally within fintech, payments or banking.

Strong knowledge of AML governance, control frameworks and quality assurance methods, with a track record of supporting or working closely with a Money Laundering Reporting Officer or Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

Ability to assess financial crime data and automated control environments, spot patterns and anomalies, and analyse root causes.

Comfort managing remediation across teams or markets in complex and high-pressure situations.

Confident communication in fluent English, with the ability to influence stakeholders across compliance, operations, data, product, senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

Nice to have: experience developing artificial intelligence or machine-learning tools for financial crime controls.
