Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

Key Responsibilities

• •Operate and monitor ammonia refrigeration systems, compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, and associated equipment.
• •Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities as per the maintenance schedule.
• •Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation faults in refrigeration equipment.
• •Monitor system parameters such as pressure, temperature, oil levels, refrigerant levels, and compressor performance.
• •Conduct routine inspections to identify leaks, abnormal vibrations, and equipment defects.
• •Ensure compliance with ammonia handling procedures and safety regulations.
• •Maintain records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and operating parameters.
• •Supervise contractors during shutdowns, overhauls, and major maintenance activities.
• •Ensure availability of critical spare parts and maintain inventory records.
• •Participate in emergency response activities related to ammonia leakage or equipment failure.
• •Implement energy-saving and reliability improvement initiatives.
• •Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company safety standards.

Experience

• •5–8 years of experience in industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
• •Experience in food processing, cold storage, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, or industrial manufacturing plants is preferred.

Technical Skills

• •Operation and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems.
• •Screw and reciprocating compressors.
• •Refrigeration control systems and PLC-based automation.
• •Pumps, valves, cooling towers, evaporative condensers, and heat exchangers.
• •Preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• •Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• •Reading P&IDs and engineering drawings.
• •Safety standards related to ammonia refrigeration.
