Job Description
We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Please note that we are not currently hiring fully remote positions. Our tech office for this role is in Lansing, Michigan only.
- Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a web developer to join our Analytics Web Systems team. This role will focus on developing and supporting .NET applications and integrations that connect AWS-hosted services and data with on-premises systems.
- Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and supporting software applications for new and existing systems. The position requires the person to:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services using C# and .NET
- Develop and support integrations between AWS services and on-premises applications, APIs, and databases
- Build and maintain REST APIs and service-to-service integrations
- Develop and support .NET applications using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and IAM
- Troubleshoot application and integration issues across AWS and on-premises environments
- Work with SQL Server and SQL-based data integrations
- Implement secure and reliable application communication using appropriate authentication, authorization, secrets management, logging, error handling, and resiliency patterns
- Write automated tests and develop clean, maintainable code within a shared codebase
- Work with Infrastructure as Code to deploy and maintain AWS resources
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with developers, platform engineers, business partners, and other technical teams
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve application reliability, maintainability, and development processes
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong professional experience developing applications using C# and .NET
- Experience developing backend services, REST APIs, or system integrations
- Professional experience developing or supporting applications in AWS
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design and modern software development best practices
- Experience with relational databases and SQL, preferably SQL Server
- Experience with automated testing, Git, and CI/CD practices
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, SAM, Terraform, or similar tools
- Experience with containerized .NET applications, serverless or event-driven architectures, API security, or production application monitoring
