ASSOCIATE DESIGN DIRECTOR
The Role + Purpose
J.Crew is seeking a highly creative, motivated Associate Design Director to shape compelling digital and print experiences across the brand . This role spans 360° digital marketing, web, email, editorial, signage, packaging, and other physical brand touchpoints .
The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker and hands-on designer who can take ideas from concept through final execution, translating them across formats while maintaining a cohesive, elevated J.Crew aesthetic. You’ll collaborate with Art Directors, Designers, Developers, Content Strategists, Writers, Marketing, and Production teams to create engaging customer experiences across every channel.
Key Responsibilities
- CREATE innovative, on-brand design across digital and physical channels, including web, email, editorial, campaigns, signage, packaging, and print.
- LEAD projects from initial concept and creative direction through final production and delivery.
- DESIGN branding, typography, layouts, wireframes, motion, packaging, and environmental/retail graphics that evolve the J.Crew visual identity.
- TRANSLATE creative concepts seamlessly across digital, print, signage, packaging, and other omnichannel touchpoints.
- COLLABORATE with Art Directors, developers, writers, content strategists, marketing, and production teams to bring ideas to life.
- PRESENT creative concepts and clearly articulate design rationale.
- ENSURE a high standard of craft, consistency, and attention to detail across all deliverables.
- STAY CURRENT on fashion, retail, cultural, digital, and design trends and translate relevant ideas into fresh creative.
- MANAGE multiple projects and shifting priorities while meeting demanding deadlines.
- GUIDE and inspire Designers and Junior Designers, providing creative direction and mentorship.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional design experience, ideally within fashion, beauty, luxury, or retail.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating both digital and print design , with experience across web, campaigns, signage, packaging, editorial, and/or other physical brand experiences.
- Exceptional command of typography, layout, composition, form, and color.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, and InDesign .
- Strong understanding of responsive web design, digital platforms, and web production.
- Ability to take projects from concept to final production across multiple mediums.
- Highly conceptual, proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines.

Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $140,400.00

The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
