Big Cedar Lodge Internship Program

POSITION SUMMARY :

As a Summer Hospitality Intern , you will gain hands-on experience in one of Big Cedar Lodge’s guest-facing departments, helping create memorable experiences for our guests while learning the hospitality industry from experienced professionals. Internship placements may include Marinas, Activities, Recreation, Cedar Creek Spa, Fun Mountain, Safety & Security, Finance & Accounting, or Marketing.

This is a paid internship opportunity that offers valuable professional development, leadership exposure, and real-world industry experience. On-site housing is available for interns for a weekly rental fee , providing a convenient living option just steps away from the workplace and Big Cedar’s amenities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Participate in Weekly hospitality training courses that may review various hospitality management skills including but not limited to finance, marketing, customer service, procurement, etc

Actively work in assigned business area in a safe manner .

Participate in group project with assigned mentor that may be implemented through the property. Topics may vary from year to year .

All other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required: ​ High School Diploma or Equivalent ​

Must be entering junior or senior year of college , with a minimum of 60 credits completed

Preferred Degree of study : Hospitality Management, Sports & Recreation, Business Management, Marketing

Certificate(s) or License(s): None

Years of experience: 0 years required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

Previous experience in working or volunteering with school age children

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and associates at all levels

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

CPR certification and basic first aid training preferred

Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Regularly walks and stands.

Occasionally sits, lifts up to 50 lbs., and does computer work.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :

Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor . Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
