JOB DESCRIPTION:
About the Role
Abbott's Neuromodulation business develops innovative technologies that help people living with chronic pain and movement disorders. This includes implantable neurostimulation therapies as well as pain management solutions such as Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) .
As the Business Development Manager, RFA, you will play a critical role in the commercial growth strategy for Abbott's RFA portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. You will work closely with sales, marketing, finance, and leadership teams to expand adoption of Abbott RFA technology, strengthen customer partnerships, identify new business opportunities, and deliver sustainable growth.
This role serves as the field-based commercial champion for RFA within Neuromodulation, ensuring RFA is strategically integrated into territory planning, customer engagement, and Abbott’s broader pain management solutions. You will also be exposed to ANZ leadership discussions and decisions, helping shape strategy and execution across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive growth of Abbott's Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) portfolio through strategic business planning, customer engagement, and commercial execution.
- Develop and implement ANZ growth strategies that increase adoption of RFA therapies and expand market share.
- Partner with Territory Managers and Regional Sales Managers to ensure RFA is incorporated into territory plans and customer development strategies.
- Identify, develop, and execute new business opportunities that generate sustainable revenue growth.
- Build trusted relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), pain specialists, surgeons, clinicians, procurement teams, and healthcare stakeholders.
- Lead strategic account planning and support major customer conversions, tenders, and commercial negotiations.
- Collaborate with Marketing to deliver programs that improve customer and patient outcomes.
- Provide market intelligence, customer insights, and competitive analysis to support business planning and strategy development.
- Deliver regular business reviews, sales forecasts, and performance updates to ANZ Neuromodulation leadership.
- Support product launches, marketing campaigns, and commercial programs that increase awareness and adoption of Abbott therapies.
- Be a visible, credible contributor to our high-performance, collaborative culture promoting accountability, innovation, and customer focus.
- Maintain compliance with Abbott policies, industry regulations, and ethical business standards.
- Travel: Willingness to travel across Australia (~40%) as business needs require.
About You
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Engineering, Medical Science, Human Movement, Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business, Marketing, or Management are advantageous.
- Proven success in medical device sales and / or business development
- Experience within pain management, neuromodulation, spinal cord stimulation, interventional pain, orthopaedics, or related healthcare specialties is desirable.

- Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute growth strategies.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities, build business cases, and drive competitive marketshare gain
- Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence clinicians, hospital stakeholders, executives, and internal teams.
- Strong negotiation and strategic account management capabilities.
- Ability to analyse market trends, customer insights, and competitive activity to inform decision-making.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, including forecasting, territory planning, and project management.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to lead through influence in a matrix environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM systems.
- Thorough understanding of industry compliance requirements, the MTAA Code of Practice, and Abbott's Code of Conduct.
