GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CA Maintenance Manager, the CA Maintenance Worker I performs ongoing facility and equipment maintenance and repair for Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada territory; primarily in California and upon request in Nevada.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnoses, maintains, and performs minor repairs to electrical systems and equipment; Assists appropriate CA Maintenance employees with major repairs and replacements.
- Diagnoses, maintains, and performs minor repairs to plumbing systems and equipment; Performs routine maintenance on fittings, and other fixtures; Assists appropriate CA Maintenance employees with major repairs and replacements.
- Prepares and repairs surfaces for painting; applies paint, enamel, or other protective finishes to various surfaces.
- Diagnoses, maintains, and performs minor repairs to manual and automatic door systems and equipment; Replaces doors, locks, or related hardware; perform minor repairs to ceilings, walls, or flooring.
- Responds to repair emergencies as directed by the CA Maintenance Manager, CA Maintenance Supervisor, Director of Operations, and Chief Operating Officer.
- Refers necessary job to a CA Maintenance Manager for a contract service.
- Is alert to hazards and follows department safety and emergency procedures.
- Completes tasks in a time efficient manner.
- Utilizes the asset management software, AMT, to document repair activities.
- Prepares and maintains all necessary reports and records in conjunction with daily operations.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Assists in the development of long-range plans for future resource and maintenance needs to be included in annual budgets.
- Coordinates with the CA Maintenance Manager and/or CA Maintenance Supervisor in reviewing the quality of vendor work upon completion.
- Ensures adherence to all Goodwill Industries® Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Reasonable ability to perform routine, repetitive, and/or physical tasks.
- Reasonable ability to work and cooperate in a team effort, when necessary, to successfully complete an assignment.
- Reasonable knowledge of and ability to practice standard safety techniques.
- Some knowledge of the use of elementary hand and power tools.
- Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must be able to perform a full range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks involved in a variety of building maintenance, repair, and construction activities including those requiring rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, painting, and welding skills.
- Safely drive and skillfully operate power equipment and hand tools involved in building maintenance, repair, and construction.
- Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.
- No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
- Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
- Must be required to pass a drug and background screening.
- Must be able to perform essential functions of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license and be insurable.

POSITION INFORMATION:
This position is a full time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Paid Holidays, Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc.

Work environment is usually hectic/fast paced with frequent short deadlines and instances of unusual situations. Travel to various company locations is required.
