Position Highlights

Position Summary:

An Exercise Specialist performs electrocardiogram (ECG) tests on patients while they exercise. The technician monitors the patient's heart rate, blood pressure, and pain levels to accumulate data about their heart function.

• Responsibilities:
• •Explains procedure to the patient and complete consent form.
• •Prep skin to obtain good EKG tracing.
• •Use proper electrode placement and equipment set up.
• •Obtain manual BP’s and follow the correct stress protocol.

• •Monitor patients for safety during exercise.
• •Document ongoing patient vitals during and after the stress test.

Enter all patient data accurately into the stress report.

Maintain ECG equipment and lab.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday.

Work Environment:

May be required to deal with unpleasant environmental situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor in Exercise Science preferred

Completion of CAN program, Medical Assistant Program or like program required. 2-3 years of cardiac patient care experience with strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms preferred.
