About Us

At Safe Network, we are the leading provider of community-based therapeutic services across the upper North Island, dedicated to reducing the incidence and effects of concerning, problematic, and harmful sexual behaviour. We provide a safe, people-centered environment where real, sustainable change is possible, with a focus on prevention of further sexual harm and healing of individuals, their whanau and their communities.

If you are passionate about child safety, systemic whānau healing, and bringing real hope to those who need it most, this challenging and deeply rewarding role is for you.

About the Role

As a Clinician specialising in supporting our Child and Youth clients, you will deliver effective, trauma-informed assessment, intervention, and case management services. Based in Tauranga, this role involves regular travel across the wider Bay of Plenty region to support our tamariki, rangatahi, and whanau. Your key responsibilities include:

Clinical Assessment: Conducting comprehensive assessments, including administering psychometric testing, developing a working hypothesis about why the behaviour occurred, and identifying therapeutic targets to be addressed during intervention.

Clinical Interventions: Delivering individual, group, and family/whanau therapy, tailored to the unique developmental needs of children and youth.

Systemic Support: Building collaborative relationships with other helping professionals, education sector agencies and community organisations, in order to provide comprehensive support to others involved in the care of our child and youth clients.

About You

We are looking for a resilient professional who holds a deep compassion for children and young people and a non-judgmental approach to complex clinical issues. Your profile includes:

Qualifications: A tertiary-level therapeutic qualification with full and current NZ professional registration, including a current annual practicing certificate (e.g., NZAC, NZCCA, Psychologists Board, Psychotherapists Board).

Experience: At least two years of experience (including placements) as a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, or Psychologist, ideally with a background in child/youth therapy.

Mobility & Flexibility: A valid driver's license and the willingness to travel across the wider Bay of Plenty region to meet clients outside of Tauranga.

Cultural Capability: A strong commitment to culturally responsive practice, including a good understanding of tikanga Māori when working alongside whānau.

Personal Resilience: A high level of self-awareness, reflective clinical practices, the ability to reach out for support when needed, a commitment to actively engage in multiple forms of clinical supervision, and robust self-care strategies.

Administrative Skills: the ability to write robust clinical reports, develop relevant intervention plans, keep professional client records up to date, and a proven track record of managing time and priorities appropriately.

What We Offer

Safeguarding children and young people requires a well-supported workforce. To ensure your longevity and well-being in this specialist field, we offer:

Comprehensive Insurance: Employer-funded health, trauma/critical care, and income protection insurance through NIB.

Clinical Safeguards: Dedicated, ongoing funding for specialised professional supervision and EAP access.

Growth & Recognition: Generous professional development opportunities to expand your expertise in sexual harm assessments and interventions, a competitive remuneration package, and paid professional registration costs.

Your Application

Please submit your up-to-date CV and a detailed cover letter. We appreciate candidates may use AI to support their application; however, we prefer to hear from you and your words rather than being 100% AI written.
