What you’ll do

As our Finance & Commercial Business Partner for NSW/ACT, you’ll be part of the regional leadership team, embedding strategic and operational financial plans and providing the commercial insight, guidance and controls needed to achieve regional objectives. You’ll partner closely with senior leaders, turning financial and operational data into practical recommendations that support strong performance, informed decisions and sustainable growth.

  • Act as the senior finance business partner to the Managing Director, Service Group Leaders and Operations Director.
  • Develop and oversee financial and commercial strategies, monitor delivery against agreed goals and translate performance into clear actions.
  • Own regional business planning and reforecasting, including performance goals, monthly reviews, reporting, analysis and commentary.
  • Provide commercial input into bids and proposals, working with legal, operations and commercial teams to balance risk and reward and maximise returns.
  • Oversee regional project financial performance, including project setup, revenue, billing, forecasting, cash position, cost-to-complete reviews and working capital.
  • Use financial, backlog and pipeline data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and recommend initiatives that improve business performance.
  • Drive positive working capital outcomes through regular insights, including weekly regional cash forecasting and updates to leadership.
  • Support leaders to manage staff utilisation, overhead costs and regional resources effectively.
  • Maintain robust financial controls and ensure accurate, consistent and timely internal and external reporting.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team across business analysis, commercial advisory, project accounting and workplace services.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, corporate governance, business rules and financial procedures.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, with CA, CPA or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Significant finance and commercial experience in professional services or consulting; engineering, project management or a related environment will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated success driving revenue, profitability, cash flow and working capital outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen and a clear understanding of how finance and commercial initiatives connect to business strategy.
  • The ability to interpret and synthesise complex quantitative and qualitative information, identify trends and provide practical recommendations.
  • Experience operating in a matrix organisation and achieving outcomes through influence.
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner with, inspire and influence senior leaders and teams.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and commercial policies, governance, controls and project financial management.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to strengthen systems, processes and capability across the business.
