  • Safety Management Group is seeking a local Construction Coordinator in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • The Construction Coordinator acts as the connective link between the construction project team and the operating facility. This role is responsible for securing and maintaining all required construction-related permits, and for serving as the primary liaison with site personnel to align construction activity with the site's operational, safety, security, and quality requirements.

Additional Information

  • SMG full-time, benefited Associates are eligible for Premium Pay after working 40 billable hours for the week. Premium pay is at a 1.35 multiplier.
  • Annual pay/merit review/increase.
  • Overview of Job Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate construction permits, approvals, inspections, and documentation to ensure all work is properly authorized before execution.
  • Serve as the liaison between contractors and site stakeholders, including Operations, Facilities, Engineering, Quality, Security, and EHS teams.
  • Manage utility outages, shutdowns, tie-ins, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities to support construction work in an operating facility.
  • Oversee contractor access, badging, orientation, and compliance with site requirements and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate construction activities in GMP-regulated environments, ensuring contamination control, dust mitigation, and protection of manufacturing operations.
  • Facilitate communication between project teams and site leadership, proactively identifying and resolving operational, safety, permitting, and scheduling conflicts.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience coordinating permits for industrial, pharmaceutical, or other regulated/GMP construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of local building codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental permitting processes.
  • Experience working within an active/operating industrial or pharmaceutical facility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across contractors, regulators, and site operations personnel.
  • Familiarity with cGMP contamination control and classified space requirements is strongly preferred.
  • Degree in Project Management or related is preferred.

Physical Demands of the job may include:

  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
