Job Summary:

(Hybrid)

Supervise and handle more complex product liability (PL) litigation and claims under minimal supervision. Provide complex liability assessment and recommendations to clients in order to assure a high quality of claim handling and litigation supervision .

Essential Job Functions:

• •Supervise and handle more complex Product Liability litigation and claims by conducting investigation and defense strategy and providing client reports with analysis and advice on further handling.
• •Identify proper policy and determine coverage. Provide more sophisticated and independent instruction to outside defense counsel, claim agents, investigators, experts.
• •Evaluate liability and damages to determine proper reserves, develop defense strategy and negotiate settlements.
• •Attend mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, small claim hearings, depositions, inspections, legal engineering conferences, trials. Some travel required.
• •Provide recommendations, suggestions, and opinions regarding legal matters.
• •Analyze and draft various legal documents, releases and contracts.
• •Handle Non-Marine claims other than PL. Conduct or participate in client/claim review meetings.
• •Conduct seminars for clients and staff on important claims technical and legal issues.
• •Update and revise internal manuals, forms and procedures.
• •Maintain proper documentation in file. Obtain and record accurate and complete data.
• •Assist Manager in training and developing technical staff.
• •Mentor staff as assigned.
• •Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.

Qualifications:

• •J.D. or LLB Degree, and admitted to the Bar
• •Minimum five years of tort experience
• •Product liability defense experience preferred
• •Advanced knowledge of U.S. civil procedure and legal system
• •Understanding of advanced concepts of technical and engineering matters
• •Good oral and written communication skills
• •Knowledge of Microsoft Applications, Word, Excel
• •International work experience and foreign languages preferred
• •Ability to work as a team member
