Summary
About the Position: This is a Credentialing Assistant position located at Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California.
Duties
- Assists the Head/Assistant Head, MSM in the coordination of the Credentials Review andPrivileging Program.
- Gathers, analyzes, and verifies information on the medical education and specialized training of al practitioners and clinical support staff.
- Verifies credentialed or privileged personnel, including all military active duty, reserve, volunteer, and civilian licensed independent practitioners and clinical support staff.
- Verifies all background information used in establishing a provider's Bonafide medical and professional expertise prior to employment at the facility.
- Reviews contractor agency verification of education, training, and licensure of prospective employees to determine the adequacy of their investigation.
- Conducts primary source verification of certification and credentialing for a variety of educational backgrounds.
- Tracks residents and medical students by running reports to identify Basic Life Support (BLS)certification and attainment of licensing.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in reviewing or verifying records such as completed education, training, licenses, or other special certifications for preparation of packets for approval. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
