Custodian

Position Summary

Redeemer City Church is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our congregation and visitors. This part-time role covers general cleaning of the sanctuary, office, kitchen, restrooms, children's areas, and other shared spaces.

Key Responsibilities

● Clean and vacuum/sweep the sanctuary, including pews, aisles, and stage area

● Clean and sanitize all restrooms, restocking supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper) as needed

● Clean and disinfect the children's area, including toys, tables, and floors, with attention to child-safe cleaning products

● Empty trash receptacles throughout the building and replace liners

● Sweep, mop, and/or vacuum common areas, hallways, and entryways

● Dust surfaces, windowsills, and light fixtures

● Wipe down doors, handles, and light switches (high-touch surfaces)

● Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate staff member

● Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stored safely after use

Qualifications

● Prior janitorial/custodial experience preferred but not required

● Reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision

● Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming space

● Trustworthy and respectful of church property

● Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods)

● Background check may be required, especially given access to children's areas

Schedule $15/hr, 4 hours per week; day/time to be coordinated with the church office (may include a mix of weekday and pre/post-service cleaning depending on need).
