Strengthen a strategic business as a Customer Service Inside Sales Specialist

If you enjoy building relationships, solving challenges, and creating value for customers, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of an important service business. As a Customer Service Inside Sales Specialist, you will manage repair opportunities for machine components and assemblies installed on customer production lines, following the process from the initial request and technical assessment through quotation, repair execution, and return delivery. You will combine technical knowledge with a commercial mindset, acting as the main point of contact for the customer while coordinating closely with Engineering, Quality Control, Warehouse, Procurement, Planning, Workshop, and Shipping. If you enjoy turning technical challenges into valuable customer solutions and sustainable business opportunities, this is an exciting role for you.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage the complete repair process for customer-owned machine components and assemblies, from the initial inquiry and receipt of the part through inspection, quotation, repair, testing, and return shipment.
  • Collect and evaluate the technical information required to understand the application, operating conditions, failure mode, and repair scope, working closely with Engineering and other technical specialists.
  • Prepare, present, and follow up technical-commercial quotations, explaining the proposed repair solution, costs, lead time, technical risks, and alternatives clearly to the customer.
  • Coordinate activities with Quality Control, Warehouse, Procurement, Planning, Workshop or Assembly, and Shipping to ensure traceability, technical quality, timely execution, and accurate customer communication.
  • Proactively identify repair opportunities, develop customer relationships, and help strengthen the repair business as a competitive and sustainable alternative to replacing components with new parts.

Expectations for you

  • You hold a technical diploma or degree, preferably in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Industrial Engineering, or have equivalent experience in a relevant technical field.
  • You can read mechanical drawings and understand components, assemblies, bills of materials, materials, manufacturing processes, inspections, and repair activities.
  • You have a strong aptitude for working in a technical and customer-oriented environment. Previous experience in technical Customer Service, spare parts management, repairs, after-sales activities, or a technical-commercial role within a manufacturing or industrial environment would be considered a strong advantage.
  • You are comfortable using MS Office and ERP systems, preferably SAP, and you work accurately with quotations, orders, costs, delivery dates, and process follow-up.
  • You have good Italian and English proficiency and are confident communicating with customers and cross-functional stakeholders in both technical and commercial discussions.

To succeed in this role

You will combine technical understanding, customer orientation, and commercial initiative to transform repair needs into well-managed business opportunities. Success requires ownership, structured follow-up, negotiation skills, and the ability to coordinate several internal functions while keeping the customer informed. You will be comfortable working close to the operational areas, addressing priorities and technical uncertainties, and driving each repair toward the right balance of quality, lead time, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

We also expect you to align with Valmet’s Leadership Principles, practical behaviours that guide how we lead, collaborate, and succeed together:

  • Take accountability: Act with ownership, set clear expectations, and follow through
  • Lead with courage: Champion change, try bold ideas, and learn quickly
  • Build on trust: Listen to understand, be open, and create psychological safety
  • Collaborate for growth: Work across boundaries, value diverse perspectives, and focus on customer value
