Role Overview

The Data Center Plan & Specification Manager is responsible for driving early-stage influence with data center owners, developers, design consultants, and engineering stakeholders to ensure Carrier’s thermal management solutions are positioned effectively in project specifications. The role requires strong technical understanding of data center HVAC and high-density cooling requirements, including chilled water systems, air-side solutions, liquid cooling readiness, energy efficiency, redundancy, sustainability, and lifecycle cost considerations. The successful candidate will develop technical and budgetary proposals, conduct lifecycle and value-based analysis, and translate evolving customer requirements into differentiated plan and specification strategies.

Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities

  • Build Strategic Industry Relationships – Develop strong partnerships with data centre owners, developers, consultants, engineering firms and key specification influencers across the region.
  • Shape Projects from the Start – Position Carrier solutions early in the design cycle, influencing concepts, specifications and tender requirements before projects reach procurement.
  • Engineer Future-Ready Cooling Solutions – Support high-density and AI-ready data centres with chilled water, air- and water-cooled chillers, liquid cooling enablement, CDUs and hybrid cooling strategies.
  • Turn Technical Expertise into Value – Develop compelling technical proposals, basis-of-design recommendations, lifecycle cost analysis and TCO solutions that address customer and project requirements.
  • Champion Sustainable Data Centre Design – Drive energy and water optimisation, PUE improvement, lower-carbon solutions, heat recovery opportunities and efficient plant design.
  • Stay Ahead of the Data Centre Market – Track hyperscale and colocation trends, consultant preferences, competitor specifications and emerging cooling technologies to strengthen Carrier’s market position.
  • Connect Strategy, Sales & Execution – Partner with sales, application engineering, product, factory and service teams while managing the project pipeline, specification progress and key opportunities across the region.

Required Competencies & Qualifications

  • Drive Consultant & Stakeholder Engagement – Build trusted relationships with data centre owners, developers, consultants, contractors and key technical decision-makers to position Carrier as a preferred cooling solutions partner.
  • Influence Plans & Specifications – Engage early in the project lifecycle to shape cooling strategies, equipment selections and technical specifications, supporting opportunities from concept through to order conversion.
  • Develop Mission-Critical Cooling Solutions – Translate customer requirements into reliable, scalable and energy-efficient HVAC solutions covering chilled water systems, airflow management, redundancy and high-density cooling.
  • Support AI-Ready Data Centre Design – Promote future-ready thermal solutions including direct-to-chip liquid cooling, CDUs, rear-door heat exchangers and hybrid air/liquid cooling architectures.
  • Deliver Technical & Commercial Value – Develop compelling technical recommendations and value propositions that balance performance, reliability, sustainability, lifecycle cost and commercial requirements.
  • Champion Sustainability & Compliance – Ensure proposed solutions align with relevant HVAC and data centre standards while supporting PUE improvement, energy efficiency and broader sustainability objectives.
  • Identify & Develop the Project Pipeline – Track market activity, consultant engagements and early-stage projects, identifying opportunities and supporting progression from specification through to award.
  • Collaborate Across the Region – Partner with sales, application engineering, product, factory, service and leadership teams across Asia Pacific and the Middle East to deliver coordinated solutions and share market and competitive intelligence.
