Dental Hygienist

SUMMARY: The Dental Hygienist is responsible for the preventative aspect of the dental department regarding educational, clinical and follow-up activities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

• •Reviews and updates medical and dental history during periodic visits.
• •Conducts and documents blood pressures on all patients as needed.
• •Performs all preventative activities according to the State’s Dental Practice Act. (i.e., dental prophylaxis, topical fluorides, and sealants to appropriate patients.)
• •Take necessary radiographs as directed.
• •Provides patient education to increase awareness regarding nutrition and home maintenance.
• •Controls the inventory of patient educational materials and audits and orders hygiene supplies.
• •Maintains and evaluates an active recall system.
• •Confirms hygiene appointments for the following day as time permits.
• •Backs up the Dental Assistant and Receptionist when time permits.
• •Performs Triage Emergencies, Dosimetry Maintenance and other duties as assigned by the Dental Operations Director.
• •Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• •Connecticut State Registered Dental Hygienist license required.
• •Two years’ experience; bilingual preferred.
• •CPR/BLS Certified
• •Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• •Education and/or Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of dental hygiene.
