Performs entry-level law enforcement duties to maintain public safety, enforce federal, state, and local laws, and safeguard citizens' rights. Key responsibilities include patrolling assigned roadways, enforcing traffic laws, assisting motorists, and responding to citizen complaints such as burglaries, domestic disputes, and assaults. The role handles a wide range of felony and misdemeanor investigations, which involves securing crime scenes, gathering evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and preparing initial reports. Additional field duties include responding to accidents to render first aid and investigate causes, conducting search and rescue operations, and assisting the county coroner with death investigations.

Beyond patrol and investigative work, the officer serves the court system by executing warrants and writs, processing arrest records with fingerprints and mugshots, providing courtroom security, testifying, and managing chain-of-custody protocols. The position also entails transporting prisoners and individuals under mental health holds, operating as part of a Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) for high-risk tactical situations, delivering community safety and drug awareness education, and performing dispatch functions when necessary.

You must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Additionally, you need to have successfully completed the Police Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Academy for Law Enforcement. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Must possess a valid Utah State Driver's License.

Must work rotating shift work.

Must work on-call 24 hours.

Enjoy Paid Time Off (PTO), an Employee Assistance Program, and an exciting perks program. Plus, you'll be part of Uintah County's award-winning wellness program, offering fun activities, convenient on-site health fairs and seminars, and full access to our on-site wellness center equipped with gym equipment.
