A Day in the Life
At Medtronic Cardiac Ablation Solutions, we develop cardiac mapping and ablation technologies that will enable clinicians to treat patients more safely and efficiently, with more predictable procedure times and outcomes.
This position is located in Mounds View, Minnesota and requires 100% onsite presence.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide expert hands-on technical support for electrical product development, testing, troubleshooting, process improvement, and laboratory operations.
Build, modify, rework, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies, printed circuit boards, cable assemblies, prototypes, test fixtures, and capital equipment subsystems using engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
Perform complex electrical tests; configure and operate laboratory instrumentation; collect, organize, analyze, and interpret technical data; and prepare clear test records and reports.
Diagnose difficult hardware, equipment, and system issues using structured troubleshooting methods, sound technical judgment, and knowledge spanning multiple job areas.
Partner with engineers to develop and improve test methods, fixtures, equipment setups, and laboratory workflows supporting feasibility, verification, investigations, and design changes.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement continuous improvements that increase safety, quality, repeatability, efficiency, equipment reliability, and effectiveness across teams.
- Train, coach, and mentor lower-level technicians and the ability to delegate tasks
Maintain accurate technical documentation, equipment records, calibration status, material inventory, and traceability in accordance with applicable procedures and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications

Requires minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
Requires high school diploma or equivalent (United States), vocational or technical education or certification (all other countries)
Expert knowledge of electronic systems, laboratory techniques, troubleshooting practices, electrical schematics, and standard test instrumentation.
Demonstrated ability to independently execute technical work of the highest complexity and implement improvements to systems, processes, and test capability.
Demonstrated experience training, coaching, delegating work to, or reviewing the work of other technical employees.
Preferred Qualifications
15 years of relevant technical experience in electrical product development, test engineering support, electronics manufacturing, laboratory operations, or a related field.
Associate degree or advanced technical certification in electronics, electrical engineering technology, biomedical equipment technology, or a related field.
Experience supporting medical device research and development within a regulated quality system.
Advanced proficiency with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, function generators, electronic loads, data acquisition equipment, network analyzers, safety analyzers, and related laboratory instrumentation.
Advanced soldering, PCB rework, cable fabrication, mechanical assembly, and electronic prototype construction skills.
Experience designing or improving test fixtures, instrumentation interfaces, laboratory equipment, or semi-automated test systems.
Experience supporting design verification, test method development or validation, failure investigations, root-cause analysis, equipment qualification, and transfer to manufacturing or suppliers.
Ability to use common engineering and business tools for technical documentation, data analysis, equipment tracking, and workflow management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to cross-functional partners.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$90,400.00 - $135,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
