Director of Product — SafeSend (Gather & Deliver)

Job Description:

Accounting firms are reinventing how they prepare tax returns, and their clients, taxpayers expect a simple, secure, digital way to hand over documents and get a finished return. Firms expect everything in between to be faster, more automated, and connected to the tools they already run. SafeSend is where that happens: the taxpayer-facing perimeter and engine of Tax Workflow for accounting firm clients, the surface taxpayers touch, and, through its APIs, the engine firms build their own workflows on.

As Director of Product for SafeSend, you will own that surface and lead its evolution into an AI-driven, agentic gather-prepare-deliver experience on Thomson Reuters’ CoCounsel platform and open it up so firms and partners can build on it.

The opportunity:

  • Firms are consolidating fragmented point tools into one connected workflow and want a single partner to deliver it.
  • Taxpayers expect a modern, mobile, trustworthy way to share documents and receive their return.
  • Document data extraction is going AI-native; firms want agentic preparation and review and are adopting it now.
  • Firms increasingly want to build on open APIs so their own portals, data and reporting stay connected as the market converges.
  • SafeSend sits at the center of all four. This is a build-and-converge mandate — shaping a market-defining product, not maintaining a mature one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver SafeSend. Own the SafeSend portfolio end to end — Gather, Organizers, e-Sign, Delivery, Returns and Extensions — season over season, at the reliability and scale that tax-filing peaks demand.
  • Converge SafeSend and TaxCaddy. Bring the best of SafeSend and TaxCaddy together into one Gather & Deliver experience for every firm and taxpayer[CH1]
  • Componentize the portfolio. Turn each part of SafeSend into reusable workflow components that can be recomposed across the gather – prepare – deliver flow and used across the broader CoCounsel platform, rather than locked inside a single app.
  • Enable expanded SafeSend access via APIs and orchestration. Expand the SafeSend API surface — open APIs, events and integrations — as a first-class capability, so firms and partners embed SafeSend in their own portals and workflows and keep their tools, data and reporting connected, with orchestration so AI agents and partner systems can coordinate gather and delivery programmatically.
  • Deliver agentic Gather & Deliver through CoCounsel. Bring agentic Gather — and AI-driven extraction, preparation and review — into the SafeSend experience on the CoCounsel platform, so more of the work shifts from staff to the platform while the firm stays in control.

What success looks like:

  • Firms experience one connected Gather & Deliver workflow, whatever ecosystem they run today.
  • The SafeSend API is something firms and partners actively build on, not a bespoke integration project.
  • Firms reach AI-driven, agentic preparation and review through SafeSend, season over season.
  • Taxpayers get a simpler, faster, more trustworthy experience — and firms see measurably less manual work.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in product management, including leading a product line at scale as a Director or senior PM.
  • Experience building and productizing platform, API or developer-facing products — not only features on top of them.
  • A track record of converging or migrating products without disrupting existing customers.
  • Fluency with AI-native products (data extraction, agents, orchestration) and comfort partnering with a platform team.
  • Strong systems thinking — able to see a portfolio as composable components rather than a monolith.
  • Experience in the tax & accounting workflow space strongly preferred
  • Strong stakeholder management and a proven record of building high-performing teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in tax & accounting, fintech, or document / data-processing workflows.

Experience partnering with large, demanding enterprise customers as design partners.

Comfort owning commercially consequential product decisions.

Advanced business or technical degree preferred
