The Role

Arrive is seeking a high-impact, visionary Director of Quality Assurance - Transport to establish and lead an end-to-end global Quality Assurance (QA) program across our Transport division. To execute our ambitious 2027 revenue plan and support multi-million-dollar global deployments, Arrive must guarantee that our mission-critical solutions—encompassing our Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) back-office software, open-payment (cEMV) middleware, driver consoles, validators, and Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) hardware—operate at the highest reliability standards in the public transit industry.

Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, this critical leadership position will design, implement, and enforce rigorous quality controls across the entire product lifecycle—from component sourcing and hardware manufacturing through software development, system integration, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and field installation. Operating at the convergence of unattended station hardware, cloud SaaS middleware, and secure payment processing, you will build a proactive culture of quality and risk mitigation across global teams. In this role, you will collaborate with key cross-functional stakeholders across Product, R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Delivery, while serving as an authoritative partner to external transit agency auditors and evaluation committees.

How to make an impact

End-to-End Quality Program Architecture: Design, roll out, and govern a unified global QA framework spanning hardware manufacturing, software engineering, supply chain sourcing, and field installation across all operating regions.

Hardware & Electronics QA (TVMs & Validators): Establish strict Quality Control (QC) standards and testing protocols for unattended Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), validators, and driver consoles, overseeing component qualification, environmental stress testing, ruggedization, and vendor supplier audits.

Software & ABT / Open-Payment QA: Lead automated and manual testing strategies for ABT back-office software, open-API middleware, cEMV payment gateways, and mobile ticketing integrations, ensuring high-availability SLA compliance and zero-defect deployments.

Tender & SLA Quality Compliance: Ensure all hardware, software, and integrated solutions strictly satisfy RFP requirements and industry SLAs, including mean time between failures (MTBF), system availability metrics (99.99%+ uptime), transaction speed thresholds, and field service response times.

Regulatory, Certification & Security Governance: Oversee testing and certification compliance for regional payment, security, and hardware standards—including cEMV Level 1/2/3, PCI-DSS, ADA/EAA accessibility guidelines, VDV-KA, Calypso, and local-content/Buy America mandates.

Manufacturing & Supply Chain Assurance: Partner with OEM manufacturing partners, assembly vendors, and procurement teams to conduct rigorous factory audits, incoming material inspections, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

Field Integration & Installation Quality (FAT/SAT): Define standardized Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning checklists for field technicians and System Integrator (SI) partners, ensuring seamless installation and operational readiness at customer station sites.

Cross-Functional Gatekeeping & Release Management: Act as the final quality gatekeeper for software release pipelines and hardware manufacturing runs, facilitating strict "Go/No-Go" readiness reviews prior to customer delivery.

Continuous Improvement & Root Cause Analysis (CAPA): Implement robust Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes, analyzing field performance data, warranty claims, and customer defect tickets to drive iterative product and process enhancements.

QA Team Leadership & Vendor Oversight: Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing global team of Hardware QA Engineers, Software Automation Engineers, and Field Quality Auditors.

About you

You are a strategic, data-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of complex physical engineering, secure cloud architecture, and global operational deployment. You possess exceptional communication skills and executive presence, allowing you to seamlessly influence cross-functional internal teams while building authoritative, trusting relationships with transit agency partners and external auditors. Driven by a collaborative mindset and a passion for operational excellence, you excel at translating intricate public sector specifications into clear, actionable quality strategies that empower your teams to deliver world-class mobility solutions.

Your background

15+ years of progressive quality assurance and quality engineering experience , including 7+ years in a senior executive leadership role overseeing integrated hardware, software, and payment solutions.

Deep Automated Fare Collection (AFC) and public transit domain expertise , with technical familiarity spanning station TVM hardware, Account-Based Ticketing (ABT), cEMV open payments, validators, and driver consoles.

Lifecycle hardware and software quality literacy , demonstrated through hands-on experience managing physical hardware standards (IPC, ISO 9001, CE/UL, environmental stress testing) alongside cloud software QA (CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, API validation, performance/load testing).

Unattended payment and security compliance mastery , including direct experience navigating PCI-DSS, cEMV terminal pre-certifications, merchant acquirer testing, and physical/digital security standards for transit payment terminals.

Vendor and supply chain quality governance experience , with a proven track record of conducting supplier quality audits, managing contract manufacturers, and establishing incoming (IQC) and outgoing (OQC) quality control gates.

Proven process excellence capabilities , with deep familiarity or certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or ISO quality methodologies, using defect analytics and CAPA processes to eliminate repeat failure modes and achieve strict SLA metrics (e.g., 99.99%+ uptime, MTBF targets).
