Shape the strategy. Lead the team. Drive the growth.
Some sales leadership roles are about managing what already exists. This one is about creating momentum.
As District Sales Manager, you will take a key strategic and operational role within the Region, turning sales strategy into action and bringing it to life through the field sales force.
With responsibility for District sales objectives, people development and strategic customer relationships, this is a role with genuine influence — both on today's performance and on the future direction of the business.
You will be the person who connects the bigger picture with what happens in the field.
Working closely with the Regional organisation, you will translate commercial strategies into clear priorities for the District, monitor progress and identify where greater focus or a different approach is needed. You will work with sales data, forecasts and market insight to understand what is happening across the business and, importantly, what should happen next.
This is where strong analytical ability really matters. The successful candidate will be comfortable looking beyond the numbers, identifying trends and opportunities, and turning those insights into concise, commercially sound recommendations for both internal management and customers.
Leadership that makes a difference
At the centre of the role is people.
You will lead and develop Sales Representatives across the District, helping each individual perform at their best while building a strong, motivated and collaborative sales organisation. From recruitment and onboarding through to performance reviews, coaching and ongoing development, you will have a direct impact on the capability of the team.
The best leaders know that performance is not simply about setting targets. It is about understanding people, challenging them to grow, giving them the tools to succeed and creating accountability along the way.
You will bring energy and direction to the field sales team, communicating strategies clearly and making sure everyone understands not just what needs to be achieved, but why it matters.
Strong customer relationships. Strategic conversations.
Your influence will extend beyond the sales team.
You will develop and nurture relationships with some of the District's most important customers, acting as a strategic partner while the day-to-day customer relationship remains with the individual Sales Representatives.
This will include periodic sales reporting, corporate rebate negotiations and contributing to the broader strategic direction of key accounts.
The role calls for someone who can build credibility quickly, understand the customer's business and confidently influence conversations at senior levels.
Commercial ownership with room to make an impact
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys being close to the business.
You will contribute to annual sales forecasts and sales expense planning, manage District performance against objectives and work within established budgets to control expenses and maximise profitability.
You will monitor sales and call performance, follow projects through from idea to completion and make sure priorities continue moving forward.
There will be plenty happening at once, so organisation and prioritisation are essential. The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing strategic projects, customer priorities, team development and commercial performance without losing sight of the bigger picture.
Most importantly, this is a role for someone who takes initiative. Someone who sees an opportunity and acts on it. Someone who can formulate their own strategies and concepts, persuade others to get behind them and turn ideas into measurable results.
What you bring
You are an accomplished sales professional with a strong performance track record and the ambition to lead at District level.
A Bachelor's degree is required, alongside excellent communication, presentation, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Previous sales management or supervisory experience is beneficial, as is an applied knowledge of the building industry. Knowledge of the VELUX product portfolio is preferred.
You are commercially curious, highly analytical and comfortable working with data. You know how to use information to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions and make sound business recommendations. Strong Excel and PowerPoint capabilities are essential, while experience with Business Warehouse and QlikView is preferred.
Just as important, you are a people person. You know how to coach and motivate others, build trust and create strong working relationships. You are dependable, professional and bring a high level of personal integrity to everything you do.
You thrive in a team environment but are equally comfortable taking ownership and making decisions. You can move easily between strategy and execution, and you stay close to industry trends so that emerging opportunities become commercial opportunities.
The opportunity
This is a chance to step into a role where leadership has a visible impact.
You will influence District sales performance, shape customer strategy, develop talented sales professionals and help define how Regional strategy is delivered in the field.
For an ambitious sales leader who wants more than simply managing a number, this is an opportunity to lead with purpose, build something stronger and make a real commercial difference.
Ready to make an impact?
This is an opportunity to take ownership, develop people and play a visible role in shaping District performance.
If commercial ambition, leadership and the opportunity to make a tangible difference are what drive you, this could be the next step in your sales career.
