Education:
High School graduate or equivalent
Experience / Qualifications:
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) licensure in the state of Florida
- American Heart Association BLS Certification, for Heath Care Provider.
- Certified Endoscopic Tech through Society Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates preferred.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and strong time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- Works effectively in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
- Ability to apply principles of evidenced-based, analytical thinking and service excellence in practice.
- On-call assignment per department and hospital policy.
Position Summary
The Endoscopic Technician is a member of the nursing team who contributes to the comfort and wellbeing of the patients by performing specifically assigned tasks and works under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- The GI Lab technician manually cleans and disinfects the endoscopes utilized in all the GI Lab and Pulmonary procedures.
- The GI Lab technician maintains the disinfectant solutions, assists with monitoring the quality of the solutions and the effectiveness of the reprocessing procedure.
- The GI Lab Technician will assist the physician during procedures (under the direction of the RN) with biopsies, therapeutics techniques, polypectomies, PEGs, ERCPs, specimen collection, EUS, bleeding therapeutics (clips, banders) etc..
- Demonstrates the ability of function as an assistant in GI procedures.
- Provides timely, accurate and complete documentation in decontamination room of all QI logs.
- Promotes a safe "error free" working environment by consistently performing thorough infection prevention measures.
- Assumes active role in orienting, coaching and mentoring of new staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Hand and Wrist (Test both left and right sides)
- 1. Grip a dynamometer for 10 seconds with a force > 25lbs.
2. Pinch together the thumb & forefinger for 10 seconds with a force > 5 lbs.
Supported Elbows (Test both left and right sides)
1. Rotate wrist from left to right while holding 10 lb. weight.
2. Fully flex and extend elbow while holding a 10 lb. weight.
Shoulders (Test both left and right sides)
1. Sustain shoulder flexion > 135 degrees for 10 seconds while holding 10 lb. weight.
2. Sustain a shoulder shrug for 10 seconds while holding 10 lb. weight in each hand.
Legs
1. Squat and hold position for 30 seconds. Kneel on a single knee, demonstrated on both left and right knee.
Push and Pull
1. Push a stationary loaded cart with a pushing force of 40 lbs.
2. Pull a stationary loaded cart with a pulling force of 40 lbs.
Carrying,
1. Carry a 30 lb. weight for a distance of 25 feet. Floor to Table/Table to Floor (35lbs. Female - 50lbs. Male requirement)
- Threshold Requirements
- These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis,
- Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation,
- TB/PPD, Surveillance Program.
- Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
