ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting time for the Big Bash Leagues as we look grow the WBBL and BBL competitions both locally and globally. Critical to this growth is this role – the Big Bash Leagues Event Experience Director. This is a career defining role for a person who loves creating innovative event solutions that are tailored to fans whilst bringing to life our amazing BBL and WBBL brands.
This role is about emotion and shaping how our customers feel when they attend or watch our Big Bash events, creating memorable experiences that strengthen their connection to the BBL and WBBL.

The Event Experience Director will lead and champion the strategic development and delivery of the Big Bash Events Experience program to WOW our customers. You will partner with and act as a trusted advisor to Big Bash Clubs, influencing the evolution of League and Club events with our brands and customers at the centre of decision making. Reporting to the Head of League Operations & Club Growth you’ll be responsible for:
Event Creative Strategy
- Develop and lead a strategic and integrated event experience program across match days and non-match day events, delivering professional, innovative, high-quality and amazing experiences for kids and families.
- Collaborate with Leave and Club Marketing, Events and Consumer teams to develop and implement a 3–5-year event experience strategy that encourages innovation, exceeds customer expectations and continues to position the Big Bash Leagues as a best-in-class event experience,

Clubs
Partner with all 8 Big Bash Clubs to strengthen event and fan experiences, drive system-wide improvement and lift standards and benchmarks.Partner with each Big Bash Club to develop a specific event strategy aligned with the broader League Event Experience Strategy and reflecting the Club’s brand, personality, stadium, and customers.Lead Finals as end-to-end projects and coordinate delivery requirements across League teams, Clubs, broadcasters, venues, partners and external agencies.
Innovation
Build relationships with industry experts and partners to ensure the Big Bash Leagues and Clubs are exposed to the best innovation and opportunities regarding event experience and technology.Frequently showcase best-in-class event experiences, innovation, and technology to Clubs.Maintain effective relationships with vendors, stadiums, and sport agencies both in Australia and internationally to ensure we are always positioned at the forefront of opportunities.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years’ experience in major sports, entertainment or other major events, with a proven ability to identify and deliver what fans want
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor or Masters degree) in Business, Sports Administration or a related field
- Strategic and creative mindset, with experience developing event concepts that have increased attendance or improved fan experience and satisfaction
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to keep customers at the centre of decision making
- Proven experience developing and managing event budgets efficiently and delivering fan experience strategies that drive increased attendance
- Ability to build and manage complex stakeholder relationships
- Proven experience managing agencies and large contracts
- Strong understanding of the sports and entertainment landscape
- Ability to delegate and lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects
- Drive to create and deliver best practice systems and event experiences and motivate others to do the same
- Highly collaborative, personable and customer service focused
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
