[What the role is]

The officer will assess Change of Use applications from business operators, property owners and other applicants, ensuring that proposals are evaluated fairly and consistently, and processed within URA’s service standards.

[What you will be working on]

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess Change of Use applications against planning policies, guidelines and site-specific considerations.
  • Engage applicants, business operators and relevant government agencies to understand their concerns/ issues and facilitate appropriate planning outcomes.
  • Handle enquiries, feedback and appeals relating to Change of Use proposals and the use of premises.
  • Review planning policies, guidelines and work processes to ensure they remain relevant, effective and pro-enterprise.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline regulatory processes and improve service delivery.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders on planning and development control matters to achieve desired Whole-of-Government outcomes.

[What we are looking for]

The role requires strong systems and critical thinking, analytical and communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Prior planning experience is useful but not essential. The officer should be adaptable, willing to learn, and able to apply planning policies and regulatory requirements to a range of situations.
