Facility Operations Specialist

Summary

About the Position: : This position is part of the Reemployed Annuitants Cadre, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). On an as-needed basis, employees occupying these positions provide emergency support to disaster-stricken areas throughout the United States. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1-year. At management's discretion, the appointment may be extended for up to a maximum of 3-years or converted to a term appointment for up to a maximum of 6-years.

Duties

• •Plan and direct comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of Corps of Engineers facilities.
• •Maintain liaison between the Corps and agencies providing support to ensure facilities are adequately maintained.
• •Inspect facilities to validate existing conditions, determine required maintenance and repair activities, utilization of existing assets, adequacy of contractual requirements.
• •Responsible for representing organization at many meetings and various committees.
• •Represents the Director on the Energy Conservation Board and the Commanders Special Committee on Energy Conservation.
• •Investigates representative material deficiency reports and takes broad corrective action.

Specialized experience is defined as One year of experience which include: Planning and directing comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities; determining operating and maintenance requirements; forecasting resource requirements, accomplishing programs; and evaluating program effectiveness through inspections, budget controls and management improvement studies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
