Field Safety
Full-time | Year-Round | Blackfalds, AB
Position Summary
- This is not a desk-based safety role.
- Field safety at Eagle Builders means being present on active job sites, building trust with crews, and holding a clear, consistent standard.
We’re looking for a practical, proactive safety professional who can support projects across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. You will work closely with site representatives, operations, employees, and sub-trades to make safety expectations understood and followed.
Success in this role comes from showing up, speaking up, and following through. You must be comfortable travelling frequently, adapting to changing site conditions, and addressing concerns directly while maintaining strong working relationships.
What You’ll Do
Build strong, day-to-day relationships with field crews, site representatives, project managers, and sub-trades
Be present on active jobsites, observing work, coaching in real time, and reinforcing safe practices
Implement and support site safety programs for Eagle Builders crews and subcontractors
Lead practical safety meetings, orientations, and train for employees and sub-trades
Conduct inspections, hazard assessments, and follow-up until concerns are effectively resolved
Investigate incidents, first aid events, and near misses, then recommend meaningful corrective actions
Review safety manuals and develop safe job procedures and safe work practices for critical tasks
Coordinate safety requirements through project startup, construction phases, and project closeout
Maintain safety documentation, statistics, trends, SDS binders, and prime contractor packages
Prequalify subcontractors and verify current WCB clearance and valid insurance certificates
Confirm emergency equipment, first aid supplies, vehicles, job boxes, and sea-cans are properly stocked
Interpret and apply company policies, occupational health and safety legislation, and project requirements
What We Are Looking For
Relationship builder – earns trust with crews, supervisors, and sub-trades
Confident and direct – addresses unsafe work clearly without creating unnecessary resistance
Present and engaged – works along field teams rather than managing safety from a distance
Practical problem solver – turns safety requirements into workable solutions for active sites
Organized and accountable – keeps documentation current and follows concerns through to resolution
Adaptable traveler – stays effective as projects, locations, and priorities change
Requirements
Successful interview candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment assessment
NCSO designation completed or currently in progress
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and acceptable driving abstract
Available to work a minimum of 44 hours per week, including overtime and occasional Saturdays
Reliable and available to work away from home during the week
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR, WHMIS Train-the Trainers, Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform certifications
Working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, WHMIS, WCB requirements, and related standards
Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
Experience writing professional reports, procedures, or health and safety policies
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal English communication skills
Outstanding organization skills wit the ability to manage details and multiple priorities
Able to build and maintain effective working relationships in a fast-paced environment
Committed to following and reinforcing company safety policies and procedures
Local to Central Alberta or willing to relocate
Assets
General construction knowledge or field experience
Knowledge of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba safety requirements
Experience supporting prime contractor responsibilities and subcontractor prequalification
WHMIS training delivery experience
Experience using SiteDocs or comparable safety management software
Experience reviewing safety data to identify recurring risks and trends
What Eagle Builders Offers
Competitive wages based on experience, with regular evaluations
6% vacation pay, health coverage, and wellness support
Sundays off and a culture that values time with family
Clothing program, meal program, fuel discounts, and employee events
Clear training roadmaps and opportunities for growth
This role isn't about watching safety from the sidelines - it's about being present in the field, earning trust, and helping every crew go home safe.
