Field Service Engineer Specialist / (Travel Local)

  • Based Near Pekin, IL (Travel Required)
  • $35-$55/hr. + Overtime + Travel Perks
  • Monday-Friday | Day Shift
  • Full-Time

As a Field Service Engineer Specialist / Travel Technician , you'll travel to customer locations providing hands-on troubleshooting, repair, installation, and technical support for CNC machinery and manufacturing equipment. Every day brings new challenges, and your expertise plays a direct role in keeping customer operations productive and efficient.

What Travel Looks Like

  • Local and regional travel to customer sites
  • Some overnight travel based on customer needs and project schedules

What You'll Be Doing

  • Travel to customer locations to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues
  • Perform equipment repairs quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Install, commission, and calibrate new machinery and systems
  • Troubleshoot CNC controls, PLCs, drives, motors, and automation components
  • Read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
  • Provide technical support and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance
  • Complete service documentation and communicate findings and recommendations
  • Partner with customers to identify long-term reliability and performance improvements

  • CNC machines and machine tool systems
  • Industrial automation and manufacturing equipment
  • Electrical controls, drives, motors, and motion systems
  • Mechanical assemblies and precision machine components
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Tools & Technology

  • Electrical and diagnostic testing equipment
  • Precision measurement and alignment tools
  • CNC control systems and software
  • PLC and automation troubleshooting tools
  • Mechanical and electrical service equipment

Requirements

What You Need

  • 3-5+ years of field service, industrial maintenance, CNC repair, or equipment troubleshooting experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNC service or machine tool experience
  • PLC troubleshooting and controls experience
  • Equipment installation, commissioning, or startup experience
  • Industrial automation experience
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Haas, or similar control systems
