About the job

Spend your summer writing firmware that helps advanced AI compute systems run, respond and recover.

As a Firmware Engineering Intern in the BMC Development team, you will work on low-level and embedded firmware for advanced compute systems. This role is built for students and recent graduates ready to turn technical learning into practical engineering experience.

You will contribute to firmware development, test automation, engineering experiments and lab-based system testing. Your work will support how complex hardware is controlled, managed and validated.

You will write and test code in C, C++ or Python within a Linux development environment. You will also debug hardware-software interactions, document findings and learn from experienced firmware engineers.

This internship gives you hands-on exposure to production-quality engineering work, with clear tasks and guidance from the team.

The team and culture

You will join the BMC Development team, working with engineers across firmware, hardware, silicon, systems and software. Work happens through clear technical goals, code reviews, lab testing, debugging and careful documentation.

You will own defined tasks with support from engineers who expect curiosity, precision and thoughtful questions. Decisions are shaped by test results, engineering evidence and open discussion of blockers.

The team values people who think big, act fast, take responsibility and speak up. As an intern, you will build confidence by solving practical problems close to the hardware.

What we’re looking for

Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line development tools

Interest in hands-on firmware development, debugging, testing and hardware-software interaction
